@platypus All the devs i know personally, who contribute to good foss repos are paid much above market average. foss is something we should be proud of, something many other industries cannot boast of.

@import-fun If you want someone to order vegetables 3 days before, lack of online competition alone is not going to be enough. Nobody wants to wait that long.
You need to provide some sort of incentive like less than market prices or advertising as a premium healthy product (will be difficult without some heavy marketing).

5 interviews over 1 month? Unless it's a big 4 company, that's a shitty recruitment system they have got. Don't let a company like that make a major life decision for you.

@Root There are recruiting companies that take money from companies just to give them a list of potential candidates. the deal is probably 10 candidates. once they have enough, say 8, they just add 2 more candidates who may be ineligible for the role, but is willing to apply.

@SauceBoss i think for a first job, its better to explore stuff and work on different technologies than calling yourself <enter-language>-developer, and refusing a job solely on that basis. You can always specialise later though. but thats just me.

If this was your first job, this is probably the dumbest thing you did.

The problem is that the term client centric is usually used as justification for some abomination like building using wordpess or something similar. Also making employees stay overtime without paying.

He is only saying AI should be developed for specific objectives rather than building a general purpose robots, for which a lot of research and funding is happening.
