Assuming you're referring to REST APIs...
Raw .net web api maybe?
I personally had some success with NServiceKit and Nancy. Those are good starting points i suppose. -
@CptFox hearing you loud and clear. :)
Here's a picture of said scratch by the way, the white part was what made me think that it looks to be plastic.
I'm no material engineer, and stand corrected that it should be aluminum.
(but faith in Apple products isn't particularly high nowadays...) -
@CptFox i don't have an official source, but you're right that i would have misgauged how easy it was to scratch aluminium.
In any case, after looking at it more closely, it feels more like this - the front lid and back panel (underneath of the laptop) are plastic base that is coated with aluminum. It's definitely not full aluminum; try knocking on the new MBP and old MBP, you'll feel the difference.
Also, compared to the base of the keyboard, it somehow feels different in terms of density and... Coldness. No idea how to explain this. Have a look in the showroom and look at those 3 areas.
Hope it's not me being paranoid but that scratch on the lid made me look at it differently now. I'd tear away the sticker to show you guys, but then i wouldn't have another sticker to cover it.
Somehow i feel Apple's been cutting a lot of corners. The only reason why I'm actually using one is that I've to develop for IOS. -
Actually... For the new MBPs, some parts are made of plastic, not aluminium.
The only part that is made of aluminum is the keyboard base part.
Even the bottom is made of plastic, screwed on as a separate sheet underneath. -
@irene @Fabian brutal lmao
-
@Alice an unfortunate effect of "put your keys and laptop in the same bag".
-
@irene you don't need to fix the scratch on the laptop.
All you need is the awesome devRant sticker, and... What scratch? -
@beggarboy that's exactly it. You'd expect the lid of the laptop to shrug off key damage, but nope. Off the plastic goes on the lid.
-
@irene it doesn't make the computer any worse. Same thing as getting a nasty scratch on the side of your car doesn't make it go any less faster.
Still quite an eye sore though, considering how damn expensive Apple has made their laptops nowadays, and knowing that you won't be able to fix it without spending a fortune. -
To be honest I'd go with Ubuntu for first time users, simply because the support and community is quite strong.
The repository for Ubuntu is quite mature, so you wouldn't run into weird stuff that requires you to compile stuff on your own. -
@gitpush are you using a X1 Carbon? I'm using that for my coding and the adaptive function keys pisses me off.
Apart from that it's rock solid, performance and keyboard is really good.
OT - dell xps 15 if you can afford it. It's incredibly well built, beautiful, powerful and stylish. -
Never, ever underestimate how much another programmer can fk shit up... especially when it comes to Wordpress. I totally believe you, I've seen my own fair share of the Wordpress Plugin Horror Show, and man. Do they stack up and screw each other so badly, even removing it leaves some sort of weird residue files in the server.
By the way, PHP isn't inherently a bad language, just that a lot of bad code was written in it. -
Yup pretty much the same I'm using it for, a mini Linux box + media center + retropie haha.
Thing is, after I moved to digital ocean (usd5/month for a constantly on cloud Linux server), I've since retired it to a torrent box instead of a development / hosting server.
Was wondering if anyone did any particularly cool project, like say, connect it to a RC / Sphero / etc for a more... Out there implementation :-) -
Actually. What do you really use it for apart from docker swarm?
Just curious because I got a Pi, tinkered around with it, and left it in the corner because I have no idea what to do with it (apart from it being a glorified temperature / humidity sensor...) -
Therefore Elliot from Mr Robot is a superhero.
-
@JS96 if so then great job, man. I've been using it without any complaints or issues so far! :)
-
@JS96 ahh. Is this the same project / app...?
-
Wait. Isn't there already a Windows 10 PC version of devrant unofficial...? I'm using it as we speak.
-
@Deadmau5 next year, watch out for it. Android based
-
The best part of notepad++ is that even you close the application, the contents of the tab are still around when you open it again.
God knows how many configuration files I've "temporarily" put in them tabs... -
Are you kidding me. We're arguing about lift buttons layout now?!
Worse part is, people are actually confused about it? -
Ha! I work at home so no pants!
-
My wife can debug my sql statements for me... And still cook an awesome minestrone soup.
It's fun to be able to share super nerdy jokes with your other half, but apart from that... Not much actually.
I think at the end of the day, as long as you are happy with each other, it'll always work. -
Oh good. I quit a managerial role too because it was just too stressful and political. Back to looking at code nowadays and I couldn't be happier
-
I used to code in Sybase PowerBuilder, which uses a proprietary language called Powerscript; this was before the big explosion of Google.
Man. Did I read and read and read that goddamn reference guide. F1, F1, F1, and HOPE it was in there. -
I use dirty language when I look at my code as well.
But I don't think it's meant to sound sexy or complimentary... -
@vzqzac I'm still on 6.9 honestly because wanted to develop on LTS version but yeah I'll have a look. :)
-
@Kimmax it used to be free but unfortunately they made it commercial now.
They do have pretty a damn good redis library though.
The free opensource project equivalent is Nservicekit, which is a fork of Servicestack v3. Look it up. -
@kong promise and async.js is the way out of hell yo
-
@slaat to be honest, I don't regret a single bit of my gaming time.
To paraphrase John Lennon (I think) - "Any time you spent enjoying yourself is not time wasted."
