Why is docker a requirement in the first place then? Honestly curious
-
Aren't you sort of screwed if you lose it, or leave it at home one day (and need it at work?)
-
@Braed it's actually going really well. Refreshing to say the least :)
-
@monkeyboy eh there isn't s decent way to create branches/issues or create a TFS workflow compared to most git solutions
-
Ugh :( maybe one day I'll have the luxury of using git at my day job, but for now it's TFS :(
-
@Codex404 that's what I was assuming as well heh maybe a move to a different vcs is needed
-
@electrineer that's my issue...I just want a simple interface (gitlab?) To view and setup issues and view/create branches. I'm sure there's a way to do it in TFS but :/
-
@Irithyll what do you use your pi for? :)
-
Ah it always makes me sad that I don't get to use Linux for work 😭
-
@FahadAlt thanks for the kind words will do :)
-
@FahadAlt My last job was also remote, but they sent me a desktop 😕. The hours sucked and I was stuck in 3+ hour long meetings at least once a week. I hope I can at least leave the house and work a few days a week.

@Bitwise having never been to NYC, what is the best time of year to go? (Also what all should I do?) It's driving distance for me but I can also fly.
-
Awesome! What sort of code were you working on? :)
-
@Braed heh sorry about that I'm just excited :) - I found a posting online for the industry I worked in and applied. Nothing crazy or special. I did however disliked my 60+ minute drive each way so I was happy to take a remote job.
-
@Braed hey! I think a lot of factors play into it. For instance my last job I really disliked the setup and day to day work. I was never included on emails or meetings so I felt really out of the loop. Onboarding is interesting too - my last job they didn't send me a machine for almost two months so I had to use my own for a while. They ended up sending me a desktop so I basically could only work from my house.
Getting out of the house was/is important to me since it's easy to work the whole day then get stuck on one of my weekly 3 hour long meetings till 8pm+.
All in all I like it but I felt like the last job sort of made it harder than it had to be.
