@P3t3r6 Out of 15 years, I have spent roughly half in, half out - 10 years in full-time work either coding or with coding being part of the role. 10 years freelancing/contracting. I had a 5 year overlap in the middle as I transitioned.

@P3t3r6 First secret: None of us are masters - we're all still learning. Anyone who says they know everything knows nothing. Humility is a core characteristic to a good coder. Maybe better said as "Confident Humility" - "I am not sure how I will do it, but I'm going to figure it out."

Yep. It's one of the first principles I try and implement at any companies I contract to. And an effective enforcement tool is for the whole dev team to go to a looooong Friday lunch at the pub.
