@QueenMorgana the same can be said of every person in the field, myself included. But it doesn't change that it will indefinitely hit you at one point, it just has to be something you're ready to live with. But the rewards are phenomenal, the sense of satisfaction, that makes it worth it
-
@QueenMorgana well it's something that needs to really be taken into consideration, not to mention the actual material you could be exposed to, that stuff sticks with you.
-
@QueenMorgana my company frequently does quite a few jobs like that, and personally I've done a few.
It's a very emotional field; probably the most emotionally driven off them all. It really does effect you in a personal way when you're doing it all day and don't get a positive result, but know deep that the person is guilty. I'd say 7/10 of the jobs I do in that area, the person is guilty but I can't prove it. You have to really be ready to deal with taking work home, so to speak -
@QueenMorgana hahaha of course I'll answer any questions. The first step is to be certain it's actually a path you want to follow. For example, my main focus is helping with litigation and deciding whether a copyright has been breached programmatically, but I also do a lot of general pc investigation (like an employee left and took data with them). There are a few sub fields as well; code, illicit images, general pc investigation, and a few more, but they're much smaller fields 😊 generally a company will focus on a sub field, rather than a company having all fields

Digital Forensic Investigator here, WhatsApp may encrypt your messages but it stores enough data to get _everything_

Kill your artisan serve and try again! Oddly this works a fair amount of the time

I got an error last week that vue failed to initialise, on line 174 of a 21 line file. After a good 2 hours, I realised it; I was writing pure PHP in Laravel and used absolutely no js in this project.
I deleted the commented out lines initialising vue, and it worked. THEY WERE COMMENTED OUT -
Little known fact, double equals means "make super duper sure they're the same"
-
@inukinator more for people who can't design. I'm a backend php developer, so what if I take a shortcut to style my bloody buttons or make a table without having to worry about it looking the like the CSS equivalent of Ron Perlman

Here we go again... Buckle up boys

Ctrl + A opens all collapsed functions on Atom, it drives me insane

gitpull are you a bot or..?

Classic Dave.

I think in part the new wave if brogrammers are the direct result of shows like Silicon Valley and Betas that show us in that light, and even though they existing before such shows, they are certainly more prevalent now as a result.
While I agree to an extent; I think you need to accept that cultures shift and change, they adapt and morph into new cultures and develop new traits. It's just a part of human culture. -
There's 18 total pixels in all those images combined 😂
-
Always reassuring to hear a positive story. Thanks op
-
I've thought about this too long and now I'm mildly confused.
-
We're in the process now of having one of our Lecturers reported, because when asking for help in a lab he tells us to learn the "key skill of finding it online", like we're paying stupid amounts to be taught how to Google
-
Currently in university studying Forensic Computing and advanced programming; wouldn't have my job setup for next year where it not for the skills this course had taught me.
-
Try a proper coffee! Makes this lecture on Protocols much easier!
-
@Jase ah, listen close young one. Facebook is the birth of the repost, of the attention whore, of middle aged women who ends every comment with "Xxxxc". You must never think about it; or it will know.
-
I mean I do that as I write...
-
You clearly never saw my attempt at a Hello World in C++ then! Goddamn #include... Someone should have told me sooner!
-
@johnfoobar HTML is an odd ball... On one hand it's just a markup, no better than Word, on the other it is a language... I could be wrong but I'm sure it's more of a framework? Someone smart correct me please. And surely you get it, we've all met those devs who've made a pretty website that connects to a database and echos out the tables and call themselves master coders, and think they know it all.
-
While it is obviously named and aimed to be a place for devs to rant, it's turning more into a culture or social platform with development in common. I'm more than certain they won't remove stuff like that, why in the world would they restrict their user base? It seems foolish, they'd rather lose you because you're unhappy than say, 100 people who post random crap. Use the most appropriate down vote option and move on.

I think Edith needs to calm down...

You've clearly never had it break during a presentation!
