What does Steve Jobs have to do with it? He couldn't code.
-
@wesleycharles that is awful. I think I need to BFG this repo.
-
I was working for another company at the time, but I wrote both apps on my own.

It's good to beat in mind that if something you are using is seriously lacking in community support, then it could very well be a good idea to look at an alternative. Community support is essential!
-
First for C#, second for JavaScript, because coding standards.
-
I'm still coding on a mid-2009 MBP with 8GB RAM. A Mac will last you a fucking lifetime (if you're a dog... Or a hamster...)!
-
@chrizzle just be cause it exists, doesn't mean you should.
-
@xociety Java does SOAP too! I don't know as much about it as C# but it would definitely be easier than JS.
-
All what money?
-
I stand corrected. SOAP over JavaScript is a thing. Looking at the code samples, I'd say, 'fuck that'. Take a look at some C# samples. It's WAY easier.
-
SOAP doesn't work over JavaScript (AFAIK). The whole point of SOAP is that it serialises strongly typed objects to XML. Can't really do that with JavaScript. You'll need to use a language like Java or C# for that. C#'s WCF framework is great for using SOAP services. Weird that it would have SOAP but not REST.

Atom is pretty amazing. Plugins make it. Don't over do it though or it'll fuck your memory. Keep it light. Sublime is amazing too, but for me, Atom is just that little bit smoother. VS Code is OK. Probably excels for some .NET or Powershell stuff, but I use Visual Studio for that.

Who am I NOT stalking?! ;)

You're right to be angry at illegible code. If you can't read it, what's the fucking point? Coding standards exist for a reason. Strongly typed languages like Java and C# are much easier to manage coding standards on too, because they have a relatively strict structure (compared to JavaScript).
Pretty looking code is one thing, though. Writing code that is well architected and logically structured is challenging and requires at least some planning. If people don't know or understand the SOLID principles, learn them and practice them. It'll make you not just a better programmer, but a better software engineer. -
I'm not rain man, brah...

That's how we do.

Disclaimer: CSS and design are by no means my forte. I prefer to work on application logic and architecture and am content with leaving design to 'more interested men [and women]'.
-
@mattwebdev I'm not good at CSS so using bootstrap to provide media queries for me works well and any dev that joins the project at least understands bootstrap. If I try to write my own, it probably won't be as good, probably buggy and most likely difficult for others to understand. If rolling your own queries is something you're good at, then great, but I've had a pretty good run of relying on bootstraps media queries. That said... flexbox.
-
You can take a custom build of bootstrap if you only want the media queries. Lightweight and easy. http://getbootstrap.com/customize/

@devvvvb because GitKraken is about as close to porn as code is ever going to get.

Disgruntled ex underling ranted about my management style and sent me a link to their rant...

Seems legit.
-
@devRat haha!

I like to think I can. I usual average around 2 lines per movie... End up deleting those 2 lines.
-
Need to stick in 'rm -rf {foo}/{bar}' on a networked drive when they hit 1000 uses...
-
It's pretty good, but still some problems, especially on Windows. Can't handle remotes with an absolute path on the same disk. Doesn't auto update well either. Both of these problems are Windows problems though. On a Mac it's the fucking bees knees.

Hackers. HACK THE PLANNEEEEEETTT!!!

Should use ===. Don't want to take any chances with that shit.

Have you tried Music To Code By by Carl Franklin? Pretty good actually. Music written to support the Pomodoro technique. mtcb.pwop.com
