mhhhh tasty.
🤢 -
@xewl he lives in Switzerland. Public transport is expensive AF, and going by bike is a valid option if it is under 25km.
But since he said he's too broke to get there, I think it is way more than 25km.
I'm sorry for you, @heyheni -
Never heard the term "virtual machine"?
VmWare, VirtualBox, Parallels, Wine, .... -
Pointers, my friend.
You should learn how variables work in their different contexts. -
Why is this tagged as rant?
And what's the sense of this "rant"?
Dammit. -
@heyheni brainfuck.
Or Emojicode. -
@Stuxnet it is Welsh. I already saw that (and read about it on wiki) a long time ago, in a more appropriate context (I mean, it has no sense here, and even the tags... gosh!)
BTW, that thing has a real meaning.
And that dude is just showing off his skills 😂 -
I don't get the point.
What do you want to show us, exactly? -
Congratulations!
-
Florida man strikes again.
I'd love to go living there. For sure, it'd be the best (funniest) experience of my life -
For notes I use Simplenote.
For what I need (simple text notes), it is perfect, and it is avaible on OSX, iOS, android, Windows and Linux.
And on the website, of course. -
Being popular and being used are two different things.
-
@Stocken you didn't get the joke.. ;)
-
@linuxxx yep, netbeans 8.2 is great, but as I said, the first release of "apache netbeans" (10) didn't include PHP.
I'll give it a try then :) -
i use it both at work and at home.
At work, our boss wants to migrate to vscode "because everyone is using it", but HEY!, there is time, so I'm still using 8.2.
At home, I installed phpstorm on windows (free trial) and I want to try it, even if I think I'll not buy it. On my Mac, I should upgrade to 10. How is it? Last time I installed it, it supported only java :/ -
And the "I didn't thought it would have ended up in production" is not an excuse.
When it happened, you had the possibility to tell the truth and admit your mistake.
But hey! Why doing that? Why someone would deliberately risks its own salary to admit he was a prick?
Let's skip the responsibilities and let everybody blame an innocent.
Bravo. -
@shine yes, you are an asshole. You pretend to be the "good guy" just by saying "but if he did that outside of the company", but he fucking didn't.
He was INSIDE the office, in a protected environment (if strangers wanders randomly in your office, then there are even bigger problems, but I don't think this is the case).
I ALWAYS lock my machine when I'm not at home/office. You know what? I don't even leave my laptop "alone" with strangers. But in office? Yeah, sometimes I don't lock the machine because, who would steal my code? my co-workers? my boss?
You are not a "good guy", nor a "good co-worker". You are just a moron, and you are lucky no one discovered you. If I wad your boss, I'd have directly fired you. As co-worker, I'd surely have lost mine because I'd have punched you in the face. -
@heyheni I've already thought to turn my iPad (which I don't use a lot anymore) into an extension of my macbook. A coworker suggested using an app, Duet display (or similars, like iDisplay or AirDisplay).
They are way cheaper than the hardware solution (which I also saw). Did you tried them? How is your impression on the Luna? -
@caramelCase there are a few typos in the post ("Personal opnions", "To quoth").
“Your existence offends me, can we ban him from doing anything?” should be "His existence offends me" (and I'll add a /her on both parts).
Then, as @Santaclauze said, you switch from past to present (and viceversa) in you sentences. I know it is a minor thing, and everyone can understand what you mean, but it is quite disturbing and it ruins the lecture, which is bad, considering the interesting topic.
The "repo I won't name" is something you MUST change. You are writing serious things about a serious topic, but that sentence sounds really childish and throws the seriousness of it in the trash. (IMHO).
Finally, I'll add some source/example, otherwise you'll seem just an angry person yelling against sjw's (as @inaba said)
Except those point, interesting article. ;) -
@risson we used Zulip at work before switching to Rocket.
Zulip is (was?) really a shitty and bugged chat. It gave us more problems than solutions (to our previous problems 😂) -
you made a huge mistake.
Never, never, NEVER share your private infos (email, phone), unless you are the company's boss.
MAI.
You'll never know if they will be smart enough to understand not to use that email again, or if they are dumb enough to think that NOW they have a direct link to you.
And in this case, they don't look to be part of the first group. :/ -
"Which yields the deglusion curve of: BULLSHIT."
That point killed me 😂 -
@vanz te l'avevo detto io che parlavo per esperienza.. 😂
-
@C0D4 I saw the comment about dR pics, and I thought the same thing. :/
-
@bpaul never heard of it. I took a look on what it is, and it may be the same thing we are using :/
-
You are all wrong.
The answer isn't 9.
The answer isn't 1 either.
.. The answer is 42. -
For a regional government we are also working via VDI (to access their dev/qa/prod environments).
Fun part: we can access them only using a browser, and since we are using OSX, the only supported browser is Sa-fucking-fari.
With the last update (mojave), everything broke (mostly, Java..) and we weren't able to access their environments to fix bugs.
They weren't really happy :/
But yeah, VDI (for my experience) sucks, and the guys who planned to use it should be executed. -
@import-fun I think that what your boss is doing is not even legal.
I mean, I don't know how it works in your country, but here when it is an holiday fixed by government (like Christmas, 1st January, ...), enterprise couldn't force their employees to work.
And the bullshits of "it will count as 5 days" is even worse, bad enough to get a really expensive fine. -
@Stuxnet I didn't said to read the whole documentation every time, but there is people who never read one. I think OP is talking about them.
Obviously, you are not one of those people. -
@Stuxnet
OP's point (as I understood) is that a lot of people (this doesn't absolutely means everybody, so don't act like they are talking of you) is going for "the easy way", because, as you said, "why should we use antiquated methods to get info"? Well, someone has to do it. Someone will have to be antiquated, read those boring manuals, learn how things work and then help other people by giving answers. If everybody stop reading manuals, then there will be nobody to give answers.
Besides that, even if it take more time and effort, I think going through manuals is still the best thing. You think, analyse and develop a solution by yourself, instead of just copying it. (Ok, there are limits for that, it isn't necessary to reinvent the wheel every time..)
