How does pypy perform?
Also you save a lot of development time using python, which can be used to optimize your data structures and algorithms. That is probably a bigger factor than the language. -
Side note: Porsche and Volkswagen are actually the same company. Porsche was bought by VW in 2009; the Porsche Holding now holds > 50% of VW.
-
I like PHP but not Laravel. Too much magic.
-
Do you expect a raise every year? I think here it's more common every two years.
But if you can get +75% for the same work, you definitely had too less before. -
All clients use Microsoft Office and using Libreoffice will break many documents.
Online Office 365 requires to upload documents to Microsoft servers, which is forbidden in some client contracts. -
Ahh! I'm also looking for a Linux replacement for my 2015 MBP and I am currently waiting for the t490s with 32gb RAM.
People say Intel GPUs work better on Linux than Nvidia and AMD. Have you tried if it supports connecting three external screens? -
I think there are more rants about vegans/arch users, than actual vegans/arch users who annoy other people.
-
@jelleken I tried openshift a year ago and the recommended prod setup required 9 nodes! That is fucking insane.
-
Vacuum? There is a lot of mass in that photo.
-
As a python developer, I don't understand this joke. 😁
-
Do you also have a script that makes the slides?
-
There is a question injection vulnerability!
-
So which language do you recommend instead? Please don't say Java 🤪
-
alias fucking=sudo

Mine is single-core multi-threaded with preemptive online scheduling, but priorities and deadlines are often getting mixed up.
-
@TobyAsE What would you put in this non-work room? Sofas? Or a pool table?
-
Take a look at BQ Aquaris X2. I have an Aquaris X and am very happy with it. ( Switched from Samsung ) tldr

Aaaaand it's cracked:

@lastpeony CS is not about programming. Programming is just fundamentals for evaluating cs concepts. More important are proofs about runtime and memory analysis, correctness, probabilities. There are lots of interesting problems like eg clock sync, routing, scheduling, ML,... . I found it very helpful to have lectures about that instead of learning everything from books.

BlueJ is great for teaching. We used it in high school ~12 years ago. By being able to look into objects, it was easy to learn a lot about data structures. Saved me a lot of time during university.
-
Sounds like too much lines for that program! Try Python 😀
-
I'm also a full stack developer doing contract work and it's always fun to learn new technologies. When a client asks for something I don't know but I'm interested in, I'll offer to learn it. Over the years this leads to a huge repertoire... (Python, PHP, Java, MySQL, Postgres, Redis, RabbitMQ, Cassandra, React + ecosystem and es6+, React Native, Cordova, lots of libraries, DevOps Stuff like Jenkins, Docker, Icinga), currently diving into Kubernetes. I would be happy to learn more things about best practice in QA and about machine learning soon.
-
That's me. Sometimes a rebase requires force pushes. But you shouldn't do it in Branches with frequent development.
-
I think it depends on what you want to build. For complex single page applications I choose React (Redux,Saga). But often server side rendered apps are faster to build and become more stable. For those I'm using JQuery to build my components. It just works.
-
Actually I don't think not having a degree is the problem here. It's rather that you started at university and did not finish. Being able to finish things is very important in programming.
-
If you install grub after Windows, it should find it and at it to the boot menu. If you install Windows after grub, you might need some tool. I am using VeraCrypt as it encrypts the partition and includes a nice boot manager that auto detects bootable partitions (boot flag) when you press escape at the password prompt.
-
@gnuuu You mean like GitLab?
-
Which one? Is it good? We are also thinking about buying one.
-
@SpectralKH correct. But you can transition max-height.
-
As a young german employer I'm looking for:
- your previous projects to get to know about your technical skills
- whether you have finished an education (University or apprenticeship) to know whether you can finish things at all
I have an M.Sc. in Computer Science and am very happy with that decision. However don't expect to learn programming at the University, computer science is a lot about maths, algorithms and data structures.
If you are interested in doing an apprenticeship, I would be happy to receive your application.
