SidTheITGuy9694337dMine too. And I'm glad it's that way so I can use my phone's 64 MP camera as the webcam.

Demolishun35049337dI point my web cam at my crotch. This has forced the government to start researching crotch recognition technologies:

Demolishun35049337d@SidTheITGuy So I couldn't tell what the emoji was. So I had to zoom in to see what it was. Nice, fucker...

saucyatom2467337dI also use my phone (Droidcam) when I (rarely!) need a camera. But it's because my computer doesn't have a camera.
As for laptops, I wish they would all come with kill switches to disconnect cam/mic. -
kiki35254337d@saucyatom I don't trust any kind of camera pointed at me, except for my ancient DSLR that cannot even shoot video (Canon 40d)

saucyatom2467337d@kiki hence it is only pointed at me when I want to use it ;)
And I hope Graphene OS takes care of the rest. -
thebiochemic3012335di didn't have a webcame for a while, so i just printed a holder for my monitor to put a decommissioned phone on (rotated so the main camera faces me)
it worked flawlessly
well.. until i noticed that it was kinda tilted after half a year, because it turns out old phones don't like being charged for months. The battery became a spicy pillow
I use my phone as webcam. It’s higher quality, and it allows me to have my laptop’s cam taped over.
Unfortunately, not every one of us can organize their life in a way that doesn’t require using a webcam. Sometimes, you need one.
Yes, I know there are laptops with built-in webcam slider. Mine is not one of them.
