Demolishun35051153dThe wild thing is I can get an HP Z640 with 3.5GHz CPU and 6 cores for $180. Those workstations have a pretty high wattage power supply. So for $480 I put together a decent shit gaming computer. Unless I go to a 3050. Then I can video card under $200.

vane11052152dMonopoly and nvidia slowly shifting from being consumer company to being enterprise technology provider.
I'm waiting for nvidia to drop consumer market, computer gpu are just 17.1% of their revenue compared to 53.3% in 2019 and datacenter is now 78.0%.
Given how big demand is for their AI H100 computers I'd say we have up to 5 years before their gone from consumers.
They started opensourcing their stuff around consumer drivers so they are preparing to dump it. -
gitstashio300151d@vane I for one don't require nvidia hardware and was really hoping Intel would make those new GPUs they released work well

12bitfloat9422136d@Demolishun Really though, it's pretty tough. Even finding a used 4000 series card for retail price is challenging enough... I would say just go for AMD but unfortunately DLSS and co shenanigans are just too good to pass up on. At the end of the day there isn't much you can do besides bite the bullet and begrudgingly give nvidia your money

Why are all the 2060, 3060, and 4060 gpus about $300? Shouldn't the price come down on the 2060 and 3060?
