I once wanted to make easy money by becoming a professional poker player. I did this by programming a poker simulator and calculate chances with certain cards and stuff. To assure you have 6.**% winning (mathematical chance calculated) of a hand takes around 3k simulations to cancel out the luck. So don't trust to much on your math.

That went well, but that wasn't all that there was to learn, you could even consider a small start. Long story short, I became quite a good player and won a lot with Appeak Poker (Great app! No adverts!). Now, I opened a while ago an account at the Holland Casino to make some money. But they were playing on such low wages that it was just not interesting and I quitted. Today I realized I had still an account with money on it and thought "let's get over wit it" so i did aggressive betting on red (1:st 40% all in, lost, 2nd 100% all in won) in a roulette game. In the end I had a few euro profit so the gambling adventure never costed me money.

Another reason the poker carreer ended is because I realized it's not a quick way to make money at all and the gambling factor was too high. I expected poker a bit to be more strategy.

I even consider the best poker spelers maybe to just be lucky bastards in some cases. Poker stars is fun to see on youtube tough, they're bullshitting a lot.

I consider gambling for losers. Poker, you can become really good in it, but still some luck is required. Not bad luck at least. You can lose with a multiple of quite good hands.

Fact: one of the best poker players is actually a software developer

Yeah, people downvoted this, but some nice people upvoted it again.

ITS NOT SPAM! I spend a lot of effort on this story. It says a lot how people read tho. They're just skimming. Low effort bastards

As a very late millennial / early genZ, I don’t do things that are boring and poker is boring to me. So if anyone finds the same type of app but playing Mafia/Werewolves, please @ me.

@Tounai poker is boring indeed. And the way to make money on it, is playing for a long long time. Hours. That's why I quitted. It felt heavier than working actually because you have to stay sharp all the time. I'm sure I could actually make profit on it, but it's too much effort for that money. Just working on a software dev is better financially I guess on a relaxter way

It is weird. Golf is more interesting to me than baseball. Baseball is like watching grass grow. I don't play golf, but it is interesting to watch. Until I get bored of it.

@retoor Thing is, when your profession is one of the most payed in the world, it’s hard to find a more time efficient way to make money.

@Tounai correct, i already had no idea where to spend it on. Currently spending it now as a maniac since i have a 'break' but I still code more than most programmers on their job. I can't stop

@Demolishun ever played golf? How more uncomfortable it is to hold the stick, the better you're holding it. It's just crazy. Nearly no sports makes me that aggressive

@retoor just mini golf. I am worse than a casual.

    @Demolishun better than regular golf

There is only one way to win 100% of the time that I know of and that is to not play.

I only gamble with my life! ;)

@bazmd I didn't want to play, so all in with the money I still had on account. Directly cashed out after profit. They won't see me back. Gambling is 0.0 exciting for me

@Demolishun keep me up to date with your opencv adventures

Try betting on emerging markets. Argentinian treasury bonds are USD denominated and have stupidly high yields (about 9.4%). Also quite high chance of default (like 6% high), but roulette will pay you 35:1 on a 1/37 chance of winning, netting a sucker's expected outcome. Thus you get better odds on the LATAM casino.

@JsonBoa haha thanks, but because the big gamble factor I've quitted my poker career. I thought it would be bit more strategy. I realized that even when playing good, losing is always in the air
