I do think sometimes, that many of the members here are missing out on millions of dollars and fame, just because they don't choose to be a YouTuber in the dev space.

Given the skill that you guys got, I can say with 100% confidence that y'all will make it. Some of you that I can think of are:

lorentz
Ranchonyx
Lensflare
atheist
kiki

I mean it, y'all are missing out on life-changing money.

flattering, and I have considered it, but I hate how opaque social media is with hidden algorithms and no accountability.

Also do we even know the success rate of channels with more than a set amount of cost and labor to filter out channels that fail early on with limited impact? I don't think such statistics are even possible. Without a single data point of useful failure rate info how do we even begin to investigate the survivorship bias to determine whether it's worth trying?

@electrineer aww someone got salty that they didn't make the list? That's cute.

You can't force a normy to dev and be great at it, the same way you can't force a dev to YouTube and be great at it.

YouTube is for AV nerds. Some of them happen to be computer nerds at the same time.

I mean it's pretty easy if you edit your videos. channels pop up with lukewarm content and they're just edited well and it's 100k-200k views right off the bat even though the guy is a computer nerd and not charismatic

if isn't edited, if it's long, if it looks boring or is boring, then it's max 20 views

but the problem with fame is you have to dumb things down for the average person and that's pretty exhausting. unless you are charismatic enough to meme yourself in the eyes of others or like the pain that is editing videos in such a way you can generate dopamine in the audience

video editing is pretty annoying though. who wants to record themselves for 2 hours. all that hard drive space. better upload it right also, cuz if you delete that and it has a bug now you're screwed. urgh. rather make AI generated films. at least it would be entertaining for meeee

I meean, skill doesn't really have much to do with fame.
Fame is mostly Charisma, skill helps ofc, but Charisma and knowing how "sell" your skill is the main part. Charisma + Skill = Godlike, tons of Charisma with little Skill works almost just as much, and tons of Skill with no Charisma just doesn't work.

(Talking specifically about YouTube, Social Media and stuff like that ofc)

Some people talk, some people actually code. The people in the list could do exactly tsoding style video's. I watch them a lot. It's a talent how good he can do reasoning out loud while programming. His thoughts are quite structured. My thoughts race so hard trough my head I barely can write a sentence, leave alone loud reasoning. I like that there are also two (good) girl youtubers. One makes games, the other makes graphics. Sadly not really my subject. But the level is high tho!
