MySQL is Oracle's MS Access

It is now. As soon as I heard the news I moved to MariaDB. Never looked back. Sure there are some quirks in 10.1, but all of that is fixed in 10.2

Yeah, the only software I use anymore that uses MySQL is an ancient phpbb forum that I admin. Any apps on recent years that I've seen that even use SQL at all, use postgresql. Though most use nosql, like memcache, mongo, or redis.

SQL databases, in my opinion, are squarely in the, "legacy" category now.
