If you're a broke sucker, do collabs or ask for shout-outs.

Search people who make similar stuff like you, are friendly and "in range".

My example: I don't think Valve would have given us a shout-out for our portal mod - but successful portal modders like prism studios already gave us a public acknowledgement. The lead developer did a live play-through, I didn't ask her for it thought.

A lot of designers here tell me that they fucking hate it when a potential client wants to pay with "EXPOSURE" - if you ask for exposure though, it's okay to work for free. If there is a potential job (my sis as an "insta star" did a few wedding shoots) you could ask for credit (and pay - and if they don't agree and exposure is more important to you, ask if you can work for having credit only)
