ISO is also stupid, because timezones and DST are awful.
Unix timestamps are metric and thus superior. No time to explain why, my kilosecond break is over, still need to do some work because in 300k the megasecond sprint is finished. -

BTW - This format is used in other places, not just the U.S of 'murica. for example, The Federated States of Micronesia.

Wack61916yI do consent to both yyyy-mm-dd and dd.mm.yyyy, for muggles the dd.mm.yyyy is more comftable, as usually they care about the day. For it yyyy-mm-dd is superior, as it simplifies search/partitioning/ordering.
So storing: yyyy-mm-dd, displaying: dd.mm.yyyy
