Natrocx406yDepends on the project.
I personally love Alpine for its minimalism and configurability. Gentoo is similar but more of a hassle to set up.
And if I really don't care about user experience (like on a server) I would probably go with Debian. -
byogdc7246y@sergiolarosa89 Elementary does have a beautiful as hell UI. Their recent update is great.

Gentoo since 2003.
Tried many, none was good enough to not miss Gentoo rather quickly. -
Condor323326yFor servers I tend to prefer Ubuntu Server.
For workstations, Arch without a second thought.
For containers and VM's (servers) usually a choice between Ubuntu (stability) and Arch (usability and fast-paced updates) depending on what works best. I ended up preferring Arch for both file- and DNS-servers. The configuration for them is just so much easier in Arch.
Usually I end up resorting to these two. For workstations, Arch without second thought. For anything legacy, Bodhi. For servers, Ubuntu unless Arch is easier to deploy. For Raspberry Pi's, Raspbian Lite.
