Microsoft have a dangerous road ahead, they can either make Github great or completely fuck it over. Either way it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

there's no way they would be that stupid. imagine this headline:

"Microsoft buys top open source repository, fully aware majority audience dislikes them, pisses entire userbase off, drives site into ground, forever damaging reputation among devs worldwide, including current and potential future employees."

yikes. they wouldn't dare.
if anything, Microsoft may be the best thing that's ever happened to GitHub. they put in a lot of money, and will be walking on eggshells for years to come. they wouldn't do anything to piss off even one more person. they already drove probably a third of them away in the initial purchasing.
