@bjorngi yes... I made the file, wrote the class, deleted the file by accident using the email command on linux, no backups.

Just write a script that executes itself every x minutes. It adds the files to fit commits with some. Random message. May save your life. After you are done with the initial project files and setup, you can delete your commits by resetting the head. Ugly but it works.
