No, I don't know of anyone who does that. That's creepy. And how does he have time to go through video & audio?
-
wifi6995y@rutee07 He might not be recording for keeps, but he definitely listens and watches us.
A colleague once had their headphone's volume up, it was audible but faint. Our boss called in to ask why he was playing music, then proceeded to apply a salary cut for that month. -
wifi6995y@M1sf3t @jurion The fear that I may not get a new one as quickly as I want.
I have had this dilemma of whether to quit now and focus all my time on getting a new job, or stay and only leave when I get a new one.
I have had a few unsuccessful interviews recently, and a few others that I missed because of client meetings and work at the office. -
Illegal in my country.
Wonder if your boss has nothing better to do than monitoring you. -
C0D4681955yWhich country are you from?
This comes under surveillance not security in most parts of the world.
For Australia... I don't know where you are but as an example,
it's ok to record video, under security purposes, but recording of audio or "listening devices" is generally prohibited. I think theres 1 or 2 states that allow it 🤷♂️ -
bols597805yI know it's easy for me to say, but if this fuckwad cut somebody's salary for a month because they were listening to music on headphones, I'd pursue this to see if it's legal. Your ass will be on the line. But I also am v. much in favour of spraying the lens. And never talk about said fuckwad in front of the camera, remember HAL from 2001? Somehow you all must conceive of a way to spray that lens black without being detected! Or better yet, arrange a synchronized moment where the entire department stands, turns around, and gives the finger to the camera, and sits back down again. Where's the HR department? This can't be real...

in germoney this would actually bring the employer quite close to jail.
If you get pay cuts for listening music its slave labour. Actually..i think you cannot get pay cuts here in any sense, cause, well, its a contract the working thing, it goes both ways. The salaray/hourly rate is agree upon and cannot be changed. So its either warning then fire but not "pay cuts". Sounds a bit like "Papers please" level of dytopia -
wifi6995y@jurion I wish. There are not many tech companies where I live.
Most of my applications have been to Germany. Canada would be a blessing if I can find a company willing to offer relocation assistance. -

Apparently, nothing seems to be illegal here. Anyone can get away with anything. I live in a developing country where nobody cares.
The salary is okay-ish for companies around here (which is the only reason I'm still here), but it's next to nothing compared to what other people at my level get paid in other countries. -
Wow that's some way to micromanage from a far 😂😂 ever thought of recording one day at work then playing it on loop?

Our boss has a camera in the office to "monitor" us, the developers.
He tries to monitor our movements and record the things we say.
I'm curious, do other people do this?
I find it annoying.
