@Techno-Wizard chromeos has a terminal.

CTRL+Shift+t, then type shell
That gives the native Gentoo terminal

You could also type "vm start" (I haven't used cros in a while, that may be the wrong command) to get an Ubuntu shell via crostini.

@Techno-Wizard forgot to mention, the Chromebook has to be in dev mode.
