mmaymandi535y@AlmondSauce Seems like you love it more than me! Here’s my best guess: sometimes mine is costly.

bahua128015yIf you think MacOS is a terrible operating system, then you've probably not used it that much. It's a very well designed UI, with well documented and widely explored system APIs, so even the third party apps(of which I use many) are excellent. Prior to starting at this company some years ago I had never used a Mac for more than a couple minutes at a time, so I thought it was terrible too. I learned quickly how wrong I was.
My company is not affiliated in any way with Apple, but most people have Macs. Everyone is given a choice when they start between a Dell and a Mac, and almost everyone chooses the Mac. I am certain this is doubly the case in silicon valley, or any other area in the tech sector. -
As someone who has previously used macOS (Hackintosh woo): It's the only modern thing Apple has produced that's actually good. However, it seems to get worse from version to version, even design-wise. Yes, dark mode is good, but huge empty spaces in Safari that aren't needed (to be fair, only in the latest version, but still) do stink.

Yes. Most of us did. Its the closest stable *nix operating that runs on a solid laptop build with usable specs for resource intensive development.

Necessary evil. For me it's less garbage than the alternative dell m4800 series that is 18% of my bodyweight with it's charger and only runs windows. -
@bahua
How's it been working for you? I dropped it and went with alacritty due to it occasionally (well, routinely) cooking my cpu -

Wow, I haven't had any trouble like that! It's been brilliant for me, and the greatest example of the value of MacOS that I can cite.
I think my favorite feature is the ability to select and copy text 100% without the pointer. -
@bahua
Yeah, it's pretty excellent. Something somewhere in it's dependency chain wasn't liking my setup, didn't feel like debugging it :)

I’ve been arguing with my friend about this for some time. He loves mac and says a lot of people in SV use macs. But mac is a TERRIBLE os and it’s soooo annoying. Sure some of you might disagree, but is it true that most ppl in SV use macs? I was surprised to hear that they didn’t choose linux over mac.
