I coded the app so good
I optimized the UX SO GOOD
I made the UI look GOOD
I made the error handling and input validation ROCK HARD SOLID BULLETPROOF

NO FUCKING WAY COULD YOU FUCK THIS UP

NO WAY COULD YOU BE DUMB ENOUGH NOT TO KNOW HOW TO USE IT AND NOT FUCK IT UP

I GAVE IT TO MY DAD AS A NORMAL USER TO TEST THE APP AND HE FUCKED IT UP ON THE FIRST TRY

HE DIDNT UNDERSTAND THE UX.

    I don't think UX means what you think it means, I also don't think your UX was designed around the DUP* methodology.

    Ones mind set needs to be so basic when validating a UX process that it's not possible to screw up, as a dev you already know what's needed vs what's optional in a journey, and can make shortcuts unknowingly and miss things a user would slip up on.

    I've got an app where I had to basically hide the logout button... because someone kept clicking it and wondering why they were logged out.

    "Well I guess this is a frequent function... guess I'll hide it..."

    look that's a very valuable lesson!
    Test as early as possible.

    Don't do that one big effort and think this is the way it has to work.
    Even test the idea for the app first. ask "how would this idea help to achieve x?" and go from there.

    And maybe use a prototyping tool like www.framer.com to quickly validate your ideas first.

    First real customer walks in and asks where the bathroom is. The bar bursts into flames, killing everyone.

    @C0D4 there is an alternative and it’s the conventionalism. We analyze popular ux solutions of products that our target audience uses, we implement our ux in a similar way so it looks familiar. even though the ux can be complicated on paper, our audience is already familiar with it.

    We’re raising the bar slightly compared to DUP but this slight raise allows for much more elegant and efficient solutions.

    However, conventionalism is not always suitable. It’s not usually suitable for ux designed for little kids or elderly (remember r/oldpeoplefacebook)
