C0D4681384yBecause it's more of a troll question then a serious one, plus the whole " *nix / mac can't get a virus" bullshit.
Just go install clamav and be happy.

luxe0115654yIts because you were rude in the comments. People were just making jokes and you thrashed out at them. Not cool.
-
luxe0115654y@yehaaw And obviously you know why you got those downvotes because you deleted the rude comments after you started getting downvoted.
-
dfox428274y@luxe011 how are rude comments relevant to why the question itself was marked as offensive/spam? Someone posting a rude comment should lead to the comment getting downvoted, not a perfectly valid post...
-
@electrineer the "not for me" category doesn't affect public score. People here report stuff as "offensive/ spam" because it's the only one that actually affects the post's score for other people. Which is incorrect, they're abusing the downvote system.
-
@AlgoRythm the not for me option isn't a downvote, it simply means "hide for me". The problem is that the voting system is not a voting system but rather a flagging system with regards to downvotes.
-
@electrineer yeah, I guess devRant doesn't really have a downvote then. Not a reason to misuse the system in place

yehaaw26044y@luxe011 I might have deleted one comment. I don’t remember if it was that post, but I definitely didn’t do it because I got downvoted, hahah.
On the other hand, if you’re suggesting me to use windows defender on my mac, then you should seriously eat shit and go fuck yourself like a bitch you are. Was that offensive enough? Grow a pair, this is a rant. -
yehaaw26044y@luxe011 You think your comment was helpful and not at all rude? Bit of a hypocritical isn’t it, my dim friend.
-
@AleCx04 On Windows I can see antivirus be useful for everybody since plain Windows is quite vulnerable. When using Linux or Mac however you have a lot more control over what you install. Linux gives you full control, and Mac does it right from the start. As a developer you most likely have a good understanding of your OS and can use your common sense to keep you away from a lot of stuff, and not worry about performance draining applications constantly running in the background. Just my personal opinion though.

@ScriptCoded I dig it, and agree with what you said. I just think that if one is a beginner on things, and they feel safe to ask a particular item in here then they should. I am not absolute authority on security and many other things and have picked up on important concepts in here from listening to the pointers that others place. So to me, his question was valid, the kind of answers and stuff he got were not. Yeah we joke around, but the man was not going for "plz help me, how to code for loopz in C sir, thank you sir" he was asking a legitimate item for something that is for the most part largely ignored by the Apple community.
-
@AleCx04 Yeah I guess you're right. I want active in that other thread and don't know the exact details. I just threw out my guess (which perhaps isn't so nice either), but we have a tendency to be quite toxic and judging here. Not saying that's a good thing.
