What I learned from devrant:
There is someone, somewhere, that will upvote the stupidest shit.

Which I find both terrifying and humorous. This is not a criticism nor a putdown. I find people fascinating. I also realize that my definition of "stupidest shit" is very subjective. This is definitely the most "fun" forum I have been on in a long time.

Devrant has also an bot problem.
there are bots that check if an other bot got downvotes and vote them up until it gets back to 0.
they often post rants of other users as their own to get some real upvotes for themselfs and then they post rants with ads in it.

@stop Good to know. I think many of us just assume bots only plague big platforms - but they are truly everywhere.

@jiraTicket i even got different types of them:
    - human/spam: they create accounts with their starting rant to be the ad. You don't see them often because they are rare and happen to be reported immediatly

    - botnet: i don't know how big they are. I don't use devrant that much to detect them often. The modus operandi i observed is this:
    1. They open an account and send copies of rants that got quite good ratings
    2. After some accounts have posted rants they spout out some ads, the ones i found posted them as comments on old rants i commented on.
    3. If one botaccount has an negative score the others are upvoting the negative comment/rant it until 0.
They are the hardest to detect, since it requires monitoring of rants and duplicates.
