what's more: it looks almost exactly the same it looked before the update (so i didn't see any difference at this part), but the interaction mechanic is different
-
@iiii we've got a winner!^^ honestly, this would have never crossed my mind, i did some heavy clicking and then thought "UI is brokenm :("
why would they just randomly change this interaction, while not changing the appearance significantly at the same time?! -.- -
sliding buttons should be reserved for preventing unwanted unlocks and pocket dials only
-
@soull00t I only thought of "maybe it's a slide action", because your question suggested something more complex than a simple tap.
They should have renamed the label or added some kind of hint or animation (wiggling arrow).
"Zur Freigabe ziehen"
"Slide right to match with singles in your area" 🤣 -
@PonySlaystation yes, thank you 😂
"every 10 minutes a single releases no order in our crappy app. connect now to get pissed together 😏" -
@iiii any button can be accidentally pressed. There's a limit to how much hand holding we should do.
-
Sliding buttons are a major problem in my opinion.
It's hard to recognize - even when saying "Slide to unlock" most people with a limited understanding of modern UI / UX will struggle.
From an ergonomic point of view, it's even more shitty. Clicking is a simple action, holding a button - sliding - releasing button? Not simple at all - especially for people with disabilities.
The only reason a slider exists is to prevent a dialog / checkbox for confirmation of an - most likely - dangerous action.
No other reason.
One might not like a checkbox / dialog - but it is far better than an slider. -
Jedidja10142y@IntrusionCM in my opinion it's kinda the nicer safety option against accidental clicks or scroll-clicking in regards to the mobile UX 'flow'
popups and checkboxes are just more content I'd have to process.
the recognition part would be solved if it was more common and you'd expect sliders for important buttons on mobile. Or by a better metaphor or Pony's suggestion -
@soull00t Had the same issue recently as I was paying my server's upkeep.
Sat there for like five minutes and just "uuuuuuhhhh...".
Luckily it did eventually click. -
Ahahaha, I had the exact same problem just yesterday. I thought it was just another episode of "smartphones and me just don't mix". Good to read that I'm not the only one to have trouble.
However, I do get the point of that UI, i.e. making sure that just mistapping won't authorise a payment accidentally. -
Earu5702yI saw the button and instantly thought of a slider, taping didn’t even cross my mind. I think I’m on the wrong side of things here 😅
-
@iiii What we think is important might not be what a client thinks is important. For example, I've just been told to place a link to a newsletter in the second spot of a main menu, and move the jobs section to second-to-last...and this is for an app that is targetted to people looking for jobs.
Thankfully, however, no slider buttons required. -
swipe on the red button from left to right, is my first guess since i assume it's not a tap button since this rant exists.
meaning in reality i would tap the button, nothing would happen, i would go "hmm", notice the graphic and the arron, and try swiping from left to right.
what do i win?

okay, this is fucking ridiculous. my bank released an update of their pushTAN app and I just had to call their service center to learn how to interact with the "new" UI to release an order.
quiz: how do i release an order in the UI shown in the screenshot?
(auftrag freigeben = release order, ablehnen = decline)
