I found this site searching for alternatives to stackoverflow, as I cannot stand the sass I get from those self righteous basement dwellers.
Am I wrong to think that I can come here to answer my coding questions?

    Techinically yes

The primary purpose of the platform is for devs to vent

It'a neither a Q&A forum nor an educational platform

That being said, it's possible to find help, tips and mentoring, but no promise of that is made and people might get jumpy if instead of good angry stories (ironically like this one, great job!) they get stack overflow style questions

I think here you'll get a different kind of snark.

Questions that don't have a clear right answer do better here than questions that can be solved by rtfm. At least that's how I think things tend to go.

@electrineer hehe read the fucking manual

Sometimes the manual not so clear

The people on SO are sassy for a reason: SO is not a forum and not a helpdesk, and neither a community. And certainly, you must not ask low quality shit questions just because you are too lazy for googling.

*This question is marked as duplicated question*

    Just kidding.

@johnmelodyme not constructive even if we'll worded and pertinent and inviting conversation !

    Somehow I agree with @Fast-Nop
  • 1
I mean, we do have a question tag

@Fast-Nop I get that but they're also assholes
    That isn't changed
Ever go on one of their chats before ?
They're assholes in there too because they like ahem alot of people are trying to make everything an infinite loop and queer everything

@AvatarOfKaine In addition to not being a helpdesk, forum, or community, SO isn't a place for psychotherapy, either.

@Fast-Nop well that's good because I wouldn't want some chomo piece of garbage that dreams of being a little boy again so his dad can rape him some more that makes baby faces at people as a psychologist thanks.

And I don't think expecting something other than a question answered on a FORUM creates for people to ask questions and not be picked apart and called a shitty human being in essence or baited into responding with due vehemence to some little nasty masochist geek that likes causing trouble so someone yells at him who then abuses mod privileges to suspend an account or consistently nitpicks a fucking question and calls a person a retard in essence is asked too much!

    Bitch. Lmao

@AvatarOfKaine You need professional therapy, and SO simply isn't the place for that.

I think what @Fast-Nop is trying to say that SO is more of a wiki for code solution than a forum like Reddit.
  • 1
@Nanos A fucking Q&A site, just as it says! The most important person is not the one who's asking, but the hundreds afterwards who come to that question via Google.

If the question is useless for pretty much anyone but the OP, then it has no business being on SO in the first place, and neither do fucktards who ask such questions.
  • 0
@Nanos so it is a forum? Or ?
  • 0
@Nanos @Fast-Nop hope this help for between your discussion with each other.
  • 1
@Nanos Nope, I don't, and I explained fucking why. How about you try to fucking read for once before you hit the fucking reply button and post stupid shit?
  • 0
@Nanos Getting rid of morons who misunderstand SO as forum or helpdesk is just basic part of site quality management. So don't wonder if you aren't welcome there.
  • 0
@Nanos well from my perspective.. I am just a moderator in this one. No intention to debate , just watching you both discuss about what SO actually is.
  • 0
@Nanos you mean like Reddit and quora?
  • 1
@Nanos its a place where assholes meet and are given moderator privileges to enable them
  • 1
@Fast-Nop well I'd gladly take the hot female fake kind of shrink that fucka their clients for a living because they cheated in college 😁

By now I'd expect a little more clever of an insult from crazy people who call other people crazy.

    Expecting too much ?

@Fast-Nop are you alright , pal? You sounds very angry. I'm concerned.
  • 1
@Nanos SO is not about you as asking person, as I already explained. If you are too dense to get that in your head, just stay away from SO.

They don't try to educate morons because there are too many of them, it costs too much time, it doesn't even work, and it would only attract more of them. Being unwelcoming to them solves the problem and at worst makes them bitch elsewhere (such as devRant), but that's not SO's problem.

@johnmelodyme that kind of is a FORUM

It's a place to ask questions and collaboratively seek answers

And @fastnop they don't prune their answers on there

On all the stack sites they have questions who's answers are wayyyy outdated and relevant sometimes years earlier

I've googled and found crap answers that misled me many times on stack

    @Fast-Nop pretty preachy
Ignorance is not synonymous with stupidity

Neither is being well read synonymous with intelligence

Or hiding in a hole in the ground waiting to troll people till they're discouraged
  • 3
@johnmelodyme It's just the usual retards who whine about SO, failing to realise that the problem is them, not SO. I'm just ranting because this is devRANT, after all.

    @TobyDebvRant

Here is a great example of devRant community to help up with an issue
