WordPress is also one of the most useless "feature" I had to implement to a project Hahahaha
Oh, wait... Wrong week question -
I've been sitting on this since I posted this. A couple years ago I would have defended WordPress. After all, it's put bread on my table since 2007. People like it. It powers over 40% of websites. It does what most non-techies need it to do and, with help from people like us, makes it look easy. But I gotta say that I'm damn tired of the block editor and Gutenberg. It wrecked a relationship with a client and that bad relationship was partly behind why I got "laid off" at my last job. I wish I hadn't pushed so hard for it and stuck with the Classic Editor, but at the time we were trying to future-proof them.
Yes, WordPress is a CF of a codebase. I hear and understand the complaints. But I've yet to see anyone come close to making something as popular that meets _business need_ and not just our fetish for new frameworks and shiny sparkly. I wish someone would fork the _idea_ of WordPress and simply do it better. -
eval6802y@stackodev noone will make it. Because it simply cannot and will not ever work. The idea that we can build a website without code that is responsive, has custom features and these features don't fuck eachother up is just unrealistic.
Plugins handling a wide range of different but connected tasks is an idea that just cannot work. And if you don't need/want that THEN there are alternatives. Pure page builders that is. That can work.
