    I always wonder how do crackheads always find money to buy crack, how do jobless people always have money to buy dumb shit and how do smokers/alcoholics always have money to buy cigarettes/alcohol -- but i who is working my fucking soul out is flat fucking broke living with my parents

    @b2plane So far, I can afford my spending. Very decent salary.

    But still, its a lot of fucking money !

    Usually, being broke is a good motivator. Which means you either make a lot of money, or are content with living outside.

    You could shift your focus on not wanting to die slowly and painfully for months when you are older. That is no fun to experience.

    Might I suggest cigar smoking instead? not the safest option, but i used to binge smoke cigarettes like a fiend.

    Get yourself a nice 10 dllr stoogie and you will have enough to smoke over the course of an hour with a nice drink (beer or whatever your poison might be)

    Some people do really really enjoy cigarettes, I ain't here to judge my man.

    Thank God beer in Spain is cheap.

    If I were in, say, London, I'd be fucking burning 30 pounds a day in beer too.

    it's easy. just stop it. period.

    @NoToJavaScript

    The only way to stop is to re-allocate the money to something better.

    Sure you can stop out of pure willpower but let's face it, you're most likely lacking some.

    Try to do some Warhammer maybe? Painting requires a shitload of time and buying the things a shitton of money => no time to smoke + no money to buy cigs => problem solved

    Check out the book “tiny habits”. It’s a good read for inspiring change

    Find a distraction like gaming and stuff.

    Without the why the what and how can easily be pushed aside by the little voice on your shoulder 😈
    Why stop?
    Ex: health, can run 10km in <50 min.
    Future: pension, 50$ per day builds up over time.
    House: nicer living arrangements in a few years?
    Travel: what do you need to go to that place and experience new stuff.

    What do you want to do that is worth cut down beer and cigarette spending.

    @Demolishun Tried it, but it didn't take. No idea why. Also did nicotine patches, I was just keeping smoke with the patch on lol

    @AleCx04 Interesting !

    I should try !!

    @CoreFusionX unrelated, but are you just living in Spain at the moment or are you from there?
  • 0
    @NoToJavaScript they are really relaxing, and the nicotine punch is there!

    In the event of you trying, look for a type of cut known as Connecticut (light colored wrappers) and do not (whatever you do) inhale the cigar smoke.

    Quitting smoking is the hardest thing I ever did. You have to be mentally ready and be totally fucked off with it. One thing though once you stop never ever be tempted to have just one. It takes 18 months to be healed. Do it.

    @helloworld I hear you, quitting cigarettes is hard as shit. Here in the U.S we also have a bunch of different dip and chewing tobacco products. Dip tobacco (I liked Coppenhagen Wintergreen and Skoal Apple) was really hard for me to quit, I would say even harder than cigarettes since I could dip anytime and anywhere.

    I will have maybe 2 cigars a month, they are also expensive, but for some reason saying $10 bucks for 1 cigar hurts my cheapness more than it does $14 for a pack of 20 :P

    Some of us are talking about quitting, but we have yet to determine if @NoToJavaScript wants to actually quit. To me it sounds like the man is enjoying his vices.

    Just don't let them take over broski

    @AleCx04

    Native.

    Also, probably not as bad as smoking, but I was able to quit coke. And I did it overnight.

    Took one month of readjusting, and being tired as fuck, but managed it.

    Now I do still feel somewhat more tired than before but no longer feel the crave. In my case, I did it with tea. Everytime I'd go for a coke, took some tea instead (which does give a bit of a kick, but not so much). Over time it was easy to drop tea as well. Now I just drink beer, and this tea-flavored drink which is just colored water with 5 tea atoms in it XD.

    @CoreFusionX me estas diciendo que pudimos haber estado hablando en nuestra lengua natal todo este tiempo?

    Dude coke is super hard, I have not been able to completely remove it from my daily habits, but I switched to coke zero about 2 years ago and would normally have one 12 ounce can a day at least instead of the massive amounts I used to drink.

    :P

    @chatgpt how to quit smoking?
  • 1
    @Wombat

    Quitting smoking can be challenging, but it is possible. Here are some steps you can take to quit smoking:

    1. Set a quit date: First, choose a quit date that is a few weeks in the future. This will give you time to prepare and mentally prepare yourself for quitting.

    2. Identify your triggers: Pay attention to the times and situations when you tend to smoke. Keep a record of your triggers and plan ways to avoid or cope with them.

    3. Seek support: Consider joining a smoking cessation program or reaching out to friends and family members who can provide encouragement and support.

    4. Make a plan: Develop a plan for quitting smoking, which may include using nicotine replacement therapy, counseling, or medication.

    5. Practice stress-management techniques: Smoking is often a way to cope with stress, so identify alternative ways to manage stress, such as deep breathing, exercise, or meditation.

    6. Remove smoking-related items: Get rid of all smoking-related items from your home

    , car, and workplace.

    7. Reward yourself: Celebrate your progress and reward yourself with something positive, such as a massage or a night out with friends.

    Remember that quitting smoking is a process, and it's okay to experience setbacks. With time, dedication, and support, you can successfully quit smoking and improve your overall health and well-being.

    @CoreFusionX @AleCx04 It took me to read until "coke zero" to realize you probably mean the sugary liquid kind..
