kiki353352yBefore you say it, yes, I had Nokia 3310 back in high school. It completely disintegrated every time it hit the floor, battery out, back panel off, front panel off, keyboard flying. Had to collect all that stuff and reassemble it. It stayed alive though

Grumm18242yMy nokia 8 survived a few meter drop on asphalt. (Got a dent in the frame but screen was ok)
Later it even got completely wet. Survived that too after letting it dry for a few days.
I never broke a screen so far. -
kiki353352y@Grumm I broke a screen on my Nokia 3220 back in the day, but that’s it. My IPhone also survived asphalt several times.

max199313682ymy phone(samsung galaxy A51) fall down a while ago.
everyone is complimating my SpiderApp, even if the actual screen is cracked, but still usable. -
Parzi86632yI used to spike my old Samsung Galaxy phones into the pavement when replacing them (like an idiot, but hey, i was 15) and 90% of them survived with no damage whatsoever. It's about how they hit, not the model itself. My current phone (OnePlus Nord N10 5G) has survived a fall of around 12 feet, with nothing but a thin $10 rubber "case" on it.
-
kiki353352y@Parzi cases make HUGE difference, especially the soft ones. Any drop resistance problem can be solved by a proper case. My problem is I hate cases. I want to hold and enjoy an astonishing piece of engineering as it was meant to be, not obscured by anything.
-
Parzi86632y@kiki You must've really enjoyed the iphone 6, then. Phones need to be stronger than OEMs make them, because OEMs plan on you never taking the damn things out of the box.
-
max199313682yMy screen was Cracked, because it fall out of my hand and on top apprendidly a little stone on the floor, causing the screen crack.
-
kiki353352y@Parzi I didn’t have money to by an iPhone back then >_< though I later bought iPhone 6 to my younger brother as a gift, and yes, it’s quite a pleasant device to use. The battery life is on a shorter side tho, that’s a bummer
-
Parzi86632y@kiki you may have missed the reference. the iphone 6 was the model that was unusually easy to accidentally put an ass curve in, and everyone hated it.
-
@Parzi some dude I worked with got mad when I said that the iPhones were bending because of fat people. He was not fat and his phone bent.
-
kiki353352y@K-ASS 11 pro has the same bouncy round shape as 10
12 and up are different though, it’s rectangular -
My friend once dropped his Nokia Lumia 520 from a height of 4 inches (I'm not shitting you).
And still managed to bring a corner-to-corner crack on the screen. -
Grumm18242y@Ranchonyx flexing on why Apple is better...
As long as there is no way to put Linux on an Iphone, Android is my friend. -
@Grumm I mean understandable, to a degree. Why can't we just stop caring about each other's preferences in devices tho..
-
Grumm18242y@Ranchonyx Yes, and there will always be different experiences for all of us. Maybe someone had an Iphone 10 where the screen cracked just from a key in the pocket.
-
Grumm18242y@kiki True :) Maybe.
But you still mentioned the 'or any non-rugged Android'.
Not all android phones are inferior to the 10.
Each model will have their problems. Sometimes it is best not to change the design if it works.
Let's wait if the Iphone 15 can perform the same. -
kiki353352y@Grumm it won’t — because of their design and weight-to-volume ratio, iPhones are fragile again. 10, 10s and 11 pro were the toughest iPhones ever, and this design isn’t coming back.

max199313682yI hate migrstions, especially on phones.
So many Logins that need to be renewed, most with SSO, but a few with email.
And all the data copying, which can be Frankly run in the background.
My iPhone 10 just fell out of my hand on the bathroom floor. It cracked a ceramic tile a bit and was completely intact.
There is no way 14 Pro or any non-rugged Android smartphone can do it.
