Emacs.
It's really the first IDE, a programmable editor used by programmers and with lots of tools and libraries to specifically make programming easy.
And with the added bonus that the same keyboard shortcuts can be used on the command line.
And of course it's the only "IDE" you would choose to use to write a letter as well. -
bt1415161339y@triggerHappy yeah it's fine on my desktops (even though I have upto 6 instances running at once) but annihilated my surface pro 3 (only an i3 and 4gb ram)

emes0013199yI use Visual Studio and Xcode the most, but I would really like to get more into Brackets or Atom for my "simpler"/other projects.

The big issue I had with most other IDEs/editors is that they look horrible on FullHD screens with win10. I can of course scale down my res or use the disable scaling option, but then what's the point of having a 1080p display? Sublime Text, however looks awesome on FullHD on my win 10 laptop

Yeah, JetBrains soft, I have an open source licence (which is free) to work on on my FOSS projects.
WebStorm for JS based webapp's and PhpStorm for the good old ones
