I've yet to see a developer use visual studio code in one of my projects instead of webstorm/intellij and not fuck up the code formatting in their first commits. Ffs use the damn editorconfig file people.
Also please use an ide that shows you warnings and unused imports I'm tired of cleaning this crap up5 -
Tabs vs Spaces.
Not because one of them is definitely better than the other, but because it's 2020, we have editorconfig and everybody should just use what he personally prefers.7 -
Use .editorconfig files when working with multiple developers. Otherwise your file encoding and code style will get fucked up eventually.

Does anyone work with EditorConfig files in VS?
dotnet_naming_rule.Variable_bool.symbols = Variable_bool
dotnet_naming_symbols.Variable_bool.applicable_kinds = field
dotnet_naming_style.Variable_bool.required_prefix = b
dotnet_naming_style.Variable_bool.capitalization = camel_case
dotnet_naming_rule.Variable_bool.severity = suggestion
this is part of one i'm currently working on. My intention is to let it detect every boolean variable that is not named correctly. Am i doing this right? Am I missing something? (Because at the moment it doesn't work).9 -
Is it just me or is encoding in 15.9.3 broken AGAIN when using .editorconfig to set the charset?.......

I recently discovered .editorconfig and wish I had discovered it years ago and will encourage the rest of the team to use it too as we all use different editors.

So for fear of starting a flame war which should I learn and go through the hassle of setting up for this superior workflow everyone goes on about... Vim or Emacs?
I need to configure it for dotnetcore, editorconfig, Perl, php, docker, git etc. I work across windows mac and Linux so it would be nice to have an editor that worked the same everywhere. Currently leaning more towards vim as I don’t really know much about Emacs so what’s worth investing my time in?1
