How to pass tests, sooner or later
(free code camp)

I know, I know, "OMG ppl are wrong the internet."

Even so, I don't think I'll ever fully get past the continuously lowering barrier to entry on sites like medium and free code camp, and at times even alligator.io. The information routinely ranges from wildly inaccurate to dangerously wrong with few checks and no peer review can't be good for the industry in the long run.

Starting to yearn for the old days when the biggest risk was skilled plagiarism.

What do you guys think of codecademy, free code camp and their likes? Please recommend good learning platforms better than these for absolute beginners.
Also can you use android studio for java programs and not just android apps?

Was looking for an app to see if there was one for free code camp to start learning python. Auto correct suggestion wasn't bad at all 😂

Hi guys some advice would be appreciated.

I’m new here but have followed for a long time. I enjoy coding in my spare time, particularly web development but I am looking to make it my career.

Currently I work in mental health as a social worker, but ultimately the stress of the job and life in general has led to me being detained in a psychiatric hospital. So I’ve decided I need change.

I want to start a career I want to be in and that is as a developer. In terms of education, I started a degree in maths/cs a long time ago but stopped due to life events at the time. All the rest of my qualifications are around social work.

I’ve been doing my best to learn with Udemy and free code camp. Mainly looking at JavaScript. I also used to work in a charity where I did some (bad) php development and front end work.

Are there any self made developers out there who have any advice for me? I’m looking at doing a bootcamp but dunno if that will help at all.

Any help or advice would be really welcome. Cheers guys :)

Had wanted to learn web dev from a long time (Im an android dev). Got to know about free code camp and started 3 days ago. Totally addicted to it. Anyone who wants to learn web dev must try it. Simply great work.

I graduated a boot camp in July and can't find a job to save my life. My skills are dwindling and I have tried to use codewars and got frustrated. I went back to the basics with free code camp. I question my sanity now. I just want to build things but I have forgotten so much. Pity party over. Time to go build something.

I started learning to program through my junior and senior year of high school. It was a required 2-days-a-week course where we learned basic JavaScript on Codeacademy and mapped out logic gates. Loved every second of it.

Since then, I've been using Free Code Camp, many Codeacademy courses, and many YouTube videos alongside my practice.

Is looking up the answers a good way to learn?

I started with free code camp a while back and always just looked up the answers and reverse engineered them when running into trouble. If I didn’t get it I’d look up a few videos on the idea.

But recently I started at a boot camp and after I asked they greatly discouraged me from doing this but I don’t see an alternative. I could just spent hours trying to guess the right answer and maybe eventually get the right one, but then my head is full of wrong answers and it takes forever. It feels like reinventing the wheel every time. I’m scared when I get further on in the bootcamp I won’t be able to find the answers online and I’ll be directionless.

Is this just imposter syndrome or am I cheating? Everyone I’ve asked said looking up what to do is part of the job.
