Client: the platform isn't sending emails
Dev: I'll look into it
(Finds all emails are being sent without issue)
Client: I just tested and I'm not receiving emails. This is obviously a site wide bug and I'm upping the priority to "Critical". I'm also getting everyone over here involved.
(Looks into clients account)
Dev: you didn't turn the setting on to allow emails to be sent to you.
Client: this is still a site wide bug that is affecting everyone.
(Provides screenshots showing emails are being sent and opened. Client closes ticket and doesn't respond anymore)11 -
I don't want to use HAML!!!! I'm the Developer, you shouldn't be doing dev! Your opinion doesn't matter.

We're using HAML for the project ...7 -
HTML & CSS.
To me they just feel wrong.
I have been working with them for a little over 20 years now, and it feels like very little has improved. Sure we learned to make things look a bit nicer, we got new tags and properties, but the syntax is still horrible.
The fact that both are replaced by other imperfect languages (haml, jade, less, sass, etc) is just a confirmation that their paradigms are about as fucked up and impossible to exterminate as cobol.
Which points at another problem: browsers, and how slow the web upgrade cycle is — adding native support for nested style definitions in css, or replacing html with a json document seems like a trivial problem, if it weren't for the dozens of browsers and the excruciating pace at which they can adopt standards.8 -
Hello friends, please tell me what you think about haml? I just came across haml and I don't know, if its that usefull to faster write HTML markup.10

For my peeps in the RoR arena, did y'all ever felt the need to change from ERB as yout server side rendering engine of choice?
I find it hard to use anything else, i would normally stick to it unless I was using Rails as an API and leave the frontend to React or Vue.
Asking about y'alls opinion because I knew about HAML from a while back. But never really used it and I find Rails with ERB to be really efficient.
Ruby pagebuilding with ERB is really flipping comfortable man.ERB has been my favorite for years.
Currently migrating a project to use Svelte and wanted to see what some of y'all think about Haml or erb. Just for the sake of curiosity. Don't know how many rails users we have in here.5 -
I been working on an app for two years. No new tech, slow paced because it's the only one of its kind... yesterday the client send me an email of a new app that do exactly what we do. Let's the games begins

if you are a good developer, been dispensable in a project is like quicksand: the more you try not to be, more important you become ... and you die choked by Jira tickets and anger
