Yes, senior developers get stuck just as much as junior developers do, the difference is that they get stuck in places that junior developers can’t even access. That is partially because senior developers are expected to do so much more than just simple coding, they need to also grasp and untangle client requirements, communicate clearly and thoughtfully with the team, be some sort of guiding/mentoring/leading figure, make sweeping architectural decisions, and so on and so forth.
A junior developer is struggling with making relevant columns of a table a nice shade of purple. A senior developer is struggling with making sure that implementing new client requirements will not have a destructive impact on the current infrastructure, there will be no regressions elsewhere in the system, tries to pinpoint what prior assumptions the new stuff breaks (it inevitably does), and how to reconcile everything.4 -

But this people started to behave.

Junior coding front end. HE NOT TOUCHING BACKEND THANK GOD.
He realises his suggestion made him to do some changes in the code. Apparently that is the end of the wolrd "a developer proposing a change and then the code must be changed??? No no" that's how his brain works. Check this.
He decides not to do two pages for creating models so he combined two models in one page. TWO MODELS IN ONE PAGE. Sooo modelB depends on ModelA. Fine. front end:" so backend has to change because im doing this in one page"
Me:" mmm no, you said treat them as separate entities besides they are on the same screen"
He:" ok, but then if I create all together the modelB is going to raise an error"
(Let me tell you he says this with expert voice, because he said "raise" and "error" so he got technical now)
*my boss said some white noise irrelevant to the conv but he is happy because he contributed and is involved*
Me:"the way data is sent has nothing to do with the way data is shown"
He:" whatever crap he can say trying to prove his point desperately "
Me: "yes, but the backend is not going to change every time a form/page changes the way to display data"

👇 Many people argue whether software engineers need to be good at concepts like data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Also, they think that companies should stop making their hiring decisions based on testing these concepts.
I think a basic understanding of all of the above is really necessary if you want to be a good engineer.
There can be a discussion on whether an engineer needs a mastery of the advanced topics or not.
However, a basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design is essential for engineers.
Why is that?
I think overall; every software application has two parts:
◉ Data (Micro-level)
◉ Design (Macro-level)
Almost every engineer deals with both of these, depending on their role in the team.
If you're a junior engineer, you may not do that much on the design side. However, your most work would be on the micro-level, i.e., dealing with data.
If you're a senior engineer, you may work more on the macro-level, like designing the architecture, structure, arrangement of different parts, and other related stuff.
A good understanding of data structures and algorithms enables you to be good at manipulating data. So it will help you to deal with data efficiently, and you'd be able to make good decisions at the micro-level.
However, to be good at designing the architecture, you'd need to be good at dealing with different parts of the system on the macro-level. This is where system design principles help you.
This is why you need to understand the basics of both.
