Definitely been like that on YouTube for a long time. I have to be very cognizant of what I view if I don’t have all my future recommendations to be filled with it. Pretty annoying.
-
@cr8zycatcodr that’s exactly what I do as well. Also have a hot tub which I get in almost daily, if you can’t solve a problem in 20 minutes of hot tubing then something is wrong!

My company just likes using the buzzword, never actually accomplish anything with it.

Still hate all that corporate bullshit. They think everything we do is for the good of the company. While the executives are sitting cozy reaping the rewards.

Sounds like doing too much work for very little incentive. Time to get out.

Biggest obstacle has always been to get them to gravitate towards test automation over manual testing. They’ve been stuck in their old ways for so long, the changes can be quite intimidating. Once they see they are capable, they’ve generally been able to adapt and be productive. Even those who don’t have a very technical background.
-
I enjoy a nice subtle animation, but some places take it too far. Almost as bad as background videos that play by default.

I used to like eclipse, but IntelliJ changed my mind on it forever. Now it just seems “heavy” when using it. Generally when I use IntelliJ I feel confident IDE related activities are going to work, with my eclipse I am mostly surprised when they do work.
Of course I prefer VSC over both, but gotta compromise somewhere. -
If I’m trying to learn a subject I have 0 experience with I’ll often get a course. However I only buy it when one of those 90% sales are on (which is quite often). Mostly use it because at the very least it presents a nice outline of topics to understand what I might dig into more myself.
-
Don’t put any skills on there that you wouldn’t want them asking you a technical question on. If you think you know enough to field any type of question they might throw your way, go for it. Just don’t be surprised when they start asking questions on those topics even if not related to the position.

Only 67 applicants in line…so you’re saying there’s a chance

Rely on the (hopefully) smart people around you. If you work on a good team, let the people do what they do best. Don’t try to handle everything on your own, pick your targets and contribute to the most pressing matters.
I also thought by the first part of the sentence a marriage proposal had occurred lol. -
As does Hot Sauce

Just make sure to include the Konami Code in there somewhere.
Games still do that? -
@kamen and those wheels have to be Apple wheels, no others will be compatible.

PUT in the time, GET the good results.

If a contract was signed then you’re missing out on money that is owed to you. Demand to have it paid or threaten to have legal actions. Sounds like a bad place to work anyway if they’re not paying the agreed upon amount.
-
To be honest, doing something like that takes a lot of talent in my opinion. Many developers are good at taking directions, but suffer when they’re expected to think for themselves. So kudos to you and good luck!

Well deserved!

@C0D4 What’s your stance on no sql DBs using caps for the collections? Seems like it’s not as much of a convention there (been using mongo for a few years now), but from all the years of using SQL I do tend to still use them for collection names at least.

As much flak as I give my bosses, I’ve never had one that would say you can’t go on your already scheduled time off due to a client deadline. It’s your time off, you earned it, they can find someone to fill in or wait.
-
I’ve always liked anything from Academind by Max Schwarzmuller. As long as you get the courses when on a major discount and you know just following along isn’t going to help you learn anything. Use the course as a outline of good topics to know and then build something on your own with that knowledge to solidify it.

Damn Betty, ya gotta chill.

Famous last words for debt items: Put it in the backlog and we’ll get to it when we can.

Sounds like a conversation about absolutely anything with my boss. Say one thing, totally forgets it happened the next day.
-
You will quickly start feeling pain in your knees, that weight you use to be able to keep off easily will refuse to go away, you’ll find twenty year olds annoying, you’ll get tired way too easily… welcome, you’re one of us.

I feel like sometimes in these type of scenarios they are interviewing another person at the same time and decide to go with that other person instead so they’re trying to come up with any reason to justify not taking you. I’ve definitely seen it happen at my job where we have two pretty decent people interviewing for the same spot but at the end of the day only have one opening.
