A coworker blamed me that our git server is rejecting his changes. Turns out his commits are 200MB large each, including binaries of all newly added libraries. And I was all like:8

CTO wants all variables in file to be same length. You cant have "start" and "stop". You must have "start" and "cease".16

Well today we got to test our system to the extreme and I'm pleased to say it passed. Major power surge followed by a black out. UPS for all networking and servers kicked in without missing a beat and the standby generator outside about 45 seconds later. After explaining to users how to turn on their computer (😑), we were able to get everyone working again in about 5 minutes. Lasted three hours without power from the grid without any client downtime1

Can people please stop posting images stolen from someone else trying to get some points. I'm here to read rants and other interesting things you encounter while working with software development, not look at memes. Thank you.

Senior Dev Idiot: "Ugh, I have another meeting with my business users because they forgot how to use my app. I JUST had a training session with them last week too. Users are soo stupid!"
Yeah... No. If your users can't remember how to use your app after a damn week, that means your app is shit and not intuitive or user-friendly enough. YOU are the stupid one.8 -
When I'm proud of the new function I invented and have no clue how anybody will get a use of it...
The world is just not ready for this2 -
Programming is a lot like playing video games. It challenges you to beat quests/tasks and hunt enemy bugs while providing boss levels in the form of large projects with tight deadlines and project managers who like to move the goal posts.4

I'm a newbie when it comes to programming. The thing I like about devRant is that I'm learning how not to be "that guy" from everyone's complaints.
Here's to devRant teaching us newbs how to not make as much of a mess of things.8
