Twitch uses it for the most important part of their system. So I don't know how that is a weekend project. Heroku's backend is fully built on it. The YouTube backend is built on golang etc. Do you actually have any arguments except just saying it's for weekend projects?

@stisch The main drawback is even more stress I'd say. Companies expect a lot from you so there's usually no time for holidays etc.

German here and yes, You can choose apprenticeship instead. There's also a whole system called dual studies which means you work for a company for a semester then you study at a university for a semester, then work again etc. In the end you'll have the University degree and a official apprenticeship certification.

@samarthagarwal I come from Germany and studies at an University are purposefully more scientific/theoretical because otherwise you can do an apprenticeship. Most of the applied stuff you can learn on your own while the theoretical topics are the ones you actually need to be pushed through. Computer Science is a science so if you want to study more applied topics, maybe you should look into a Bachelor of Software Engineering

@calmyourtities I thought about that but it is comparatively slower than golang and it is not a compiled binary.

@calmyourtities I know that but most of the dependencies have problems with ARM so you would have to custom compile them. Additionally golang is basically made for things like this and since I wanted to try it out since a long time anyways, I picked it for this project. I just know that NodeJs definitely would not work.

@calmyourtities Windows definitely not but since the Raspberry Pi has an ARM structure and I want to support different types of structures, also x84_64, it is necessary. Additionally golang brings the advantage of having a docker package that is actually developed by the docker team and used by them. I attempted this project is NodeJs before but it ended up having huge performance problems

Well at my University there would simply be no time to move it back 😂 The earliest we have is 8:15 Am and latest is 8:45 Pm. Personally I'd rather have the morning one than the late evening one

@illusion466 Computer Science isnt only about programming. We cover lots of theory because lots of people go into research. There's courses offered called Software Engineering and that one should prepare you specifically for it, not Computer Science

I mean it depends on what you study. If it is Software Engineering then you should know but for Computer Science they have to focus more on the theoretical side as well. In my opinion it's not about what they teach you at college, it's more about what you try to learn on your own. Education is only the foundation because they have to provide for lots of different areas of a general major. If you want to go into research, do you necessarily have to know the best programming practices ? It's everyone's responsibility to extend their own knowledge.

Can only repeat what @Froot said. We use Haskell in the Introduction to CS course and it makes you think in a completely different manner.

Personally C is a very nice contrast to Python. I love working with both so my recommendation would be C as well

Hey I have the exact same thing. I usually throw in Ibuprofen and take a Triptan pill. Then I can at least walk without my head bursting.
