About25 years as an engineer. It’s given me a great lifestyle but it’s been an utter ballache!

@UnicornPoo don’t forget that it should of course leverage all strategic platforms but a bespoke turnkey solution may be valid
-
Fuck that shit. I’ve been in the industry for 25 years and have several million of these rejections..possibly billions. If you’re good enough you’ll find your spot eventually
-
Mine is G Spot
-
It would help if they could actually converse in English
-
Being a fucking diversity promote..it’s getting embarrassing where I work
-
Either your codebase is fairly trivial or you are indeed a true genius…have you tested everything?
-
I would always assume that monitoring is in place…it’s not a big deal unless you are prone to repeatably typing the word ‘cunt’ in every chat and email
-
That’s what you deserve. Period.
-
@CoreFusionX I don’t believe you ;)
-
@hitko yawn
-
need some Dyson energy in my life…carpets are a mess
-
What a load of bull. Python Lambdas don’t support multiple statements who the fuck cares..if you code to a decent level, you shouldn’t be writing anonymous functions anyway
-
@CoreFusionX that’s a ballache of Gaussian proportions
-
Every Friday?! Wtf u be writing HR Bull full time …leave asap
-
Sry was just quoting the song by Rag n Bone man :)
-
Don’t put the blame on them
-
@electrineer I used it in anger over about 10 years in banking and it was bloody great to use and I am a seasoned java/python spod (apache Poi anyone?) now am glad I don’t have to touch it very often as it saddens me enormously…
-
@grospataplouf I feel your pain
-
Bad workman blames his tools
-
@NotJeckel this happened to me as well. I’m happy to turn my nose up at it cos I have a 3hr commute. If they want us to come in..then talk about it like adults or just enforce it..not this free pizza ‘work is so fun at the office’ bs
-
The recruitment process is a big indicator as to the quality of the company…have they put in the time ? If so signs are positive..if not fingers crossed
-
Ok Ron Jeffries (not to be confused with Ron Jeremy) makes sense ;)
-
Ok so we don’t bother with Pointing Poker cos it’s a waste of time. The Team never provide the estimate…individuals do ..the idea that points are comparable is not realistic
-
I love the classic look…and that includes my ide
-
The pointing poker thing is total BS
Complexity depends on programmer and we each do niche stuff …points aren’t fungible..I’ve never come across a team where this isn’t the case…I mean seriously what a load of agile ARSE!!!! -
This is the perfect opportunity to look in demand/ get leverage. Even if I’m not interviewing with other shops I will make it up..say I’m in early stages whatever..usually they ask the question if they’re interested and if they’re interested they’ll act on it.. people way too honest here..it’s a game ..get one up on the fuckers dammit!
-
@jsonboa I used to work for a trading firm where a guy lost 200 grand on a trade cos the sheet was in manual calc mode. There are a multitude of stories like this but I witnessed this particular debacle. I have a soft spot for Excel but office 365 ruined the glorious 2007..the dev bellends just couldn’t leave it alone
-
@msdsk after 25 years I prefer to shelter and keep my head down to try and limit the endless shit that will come my way. If that means enduring inefficiency then great..more time to think about how I’m going to spend my exorbitant salary
-
Yeah but which is better?
-
See it in a wider context . Yes it might be a necessary short term lowering of standards..but it’s for the greater long term good…you do your bit by believing in yourself
