I still nuke Ctrl + S so often while coding/editing a document that I sometimes think i'm just borderline maniac. This is one of those paranoid habits that has stuck with me since my early coding days, despite a majority of editors having auto save enabled. What other weird/awkward habits do you have that you cannot get rid of no matter what?

Let's comment out this block of code so later we know we have this feature and bring it back if we need it.

The overreach by a single company near or close to near monopoly on the internet is beyond bone chilling.

To be precise, I am talking about Google extending its reach by forcing people to use AMP in the webpages.

I get insta furious when i see my favorite webpages using them and effectively my entire browsing activity on that page is happily recorded for clicks and ads.

To just bypass that i have to unnecessarily add more and more addons to lock them out of my browsing which in turn WEAKENS my entire browser.

And sincerely saying, this sort of outreach is becoming really annoying. Because plain JS and Cookie Blocking will not work. and slowly people are running out of options.

Last week I resigned, in the meantime they've completely reworked the git flow process and made PR's optional, among other stuff.

Today: "Architects" ask that we stop creating tags. We're replacing release tags with release branches.

I feel dirty only for imagining having to do a "git checkout -b "v1.2.3".

Okay. For fuck sakes, writing complex code that's meant to handle "everything" and is "super generic" can be a fuck up. Like just keep shit simple. THAT is the show of great and impressive work. Over engineering is not it. Yes your shit works and yes your shit is fancy but was it needed? How long did it even take you for this over kill? How long will it take the next person to understand or not.
Someone now has to sit and run through your shit to get what you were doing. Instead of just being able to look and once and have it all figured out.
Keep things simple.

Most developers are shit.

I haven't had a smart phone in a while now. So I just started using one again. I am getting upsold for an app to "protect me from dangerous calls/texts" on my service. Really? You want to charge me more money for overpriced bandwidth to protect me from YOUR service? This is like aftermarketing a seatbelt on a car.

At least Microsoft has the decency of providing basic security/virus protection for their flagship product.
