Mum: can you look at my phone?
*bunch of random shit pops up all over the place*
Me: your phones got a bunch of viruses on it or something. You'll have to get it fixed
Her: can't you do it? You make apps. Can't you just make an app for me to fix my phone?
Me: I don't really make apps, besides that's kind of impossible.
Her: so what did you go to university for?

Anyone got any cool arduino/pi projects they want to share? I'm currently iteratively building a self-hydrating cactus that measures the soil moisture content and sunlight and logs it to my server, just because i can, then waters the cactus for me if it needs it.4

I've just finished my placement year. My first proper job, and more importantly my first real insight into the industry we're all a part of. Now back to uni for a year to get my degree then I can get back to it!1

Off to the funeral of a family member of mine today. He was one of us, a developer for a cool little startup in London. I'd much rather be wrestling with bugs and support tickets today 😔5

Email from client: "help! I'm updating my content but it's not showing up on the website! What's wrong?"
A couple of emails back and forth and decide it would be easier to go find out what's up in person, seeing how she's in the same building but downstairs.
"So what's the problem?" I ask
"Oh I figured it out myself. I remembered when you gave me the training that there's two steps to the process but forgot the second one"
"Second one?" I ask (you click update and voila)
"Yeah I forgot after you click update you have to refresh the page, thanks for coming down to help though"

I'm a junior dev, been on placement a year.
I get tasks done mostly on time, my pull requests are merged, yet I still feel like what I'm writing is seriously under quality.
What point will I stop writing code that isn't good enough to not be stressed about? 😷7
