The most annoying thing about having a favourite language and being fast/ experienced in using it is, that you need to bring up a lot of power to leave it behind for something else. :/1

Scrum-meetings-and-process-planning meeting. Not a joke!!
It was actually called like this and took 2 days. We planned how we are going to try scrum... In the next retrospective, we were back to the way we were doing it before. -
Ah... Android layout frustrations... Now I can laugh about it and enjoy my #rant-commit from yesterday.
But seriously, I can't wait for Android to be over in 2017... The framework grew into a massive pile of fragmented, fermented and undocumented shit, that gets smellier every Google I/O when they try to flush it down the toilet, but it gets stuck.7 -
A course at university made us program a chat server and client with Java RPC (in the days where there was no such thing as stack overflow), without ever teaching us anything about coding.
The grading was based on unit tests executed on a Server the university provided.
The server was down or overloaded most of the time and one could only try to deploy at most 3 times...
There were heuristics in place to find duplicate solutions.
... I have to say, that course took me from "hello world" to developer within a couple of months. Thanks assholes!! :D1 -
Dear recruiters and so called "startups".
If you want to attract me by starting with the phrase: "Mobile lead role in Startup" and you go on like...
"We are a startup with offices in Shanghai, Hongkong, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York,... "
or
"We are a startup and also the 6th biggest phone network in the world... "
No thanks, enjoy your startup themed cubicles and fuck off!5 -
Well... I found the bug...
Thanks Sun/Oracle for the clever API design. ;)
Also... I feel like a noob now :D3 -
Get ready for Xmas, where online store marketing departments come up with the most meaningful slogans in the whole year. NOT!

Srsly???
parenting.stackexchange.com
Looking forward to read of some nice "dumps", "leaks" and "overflows" there. :D3 -
The worst part of being a developer?
So many ideas, so many possibilities... But so little time to do all of it. :'(4 -
So yesterday my girlfriend and me wanted to clean the apartment.
We ended up coding on a private project all day long... but at least we put //FIXME notes all over our place.
Let's see how today goes. ^^ -
Iceland be like: "fuck all your screwed up democracies... We go open gov"...
Who else here is jealous of people living in Iceland these days?4 -
What's best about being a dev?
that most of our work is done by the skillful use of google and we still seem like geniuses to "ordinary" folks.
Therefore to answer the question: http://lmgtfy.com//... -

Is it just me or is the Android Storage Access Layer completely fucked up?
All I want to do is upload an image in 3 sizes (one of them 4k, if available), the correct orientation, on devices >= Android 2.1 (yes, including Samsung crap), without 100m of libraries to an S3 bucket and I need a PHD + an Armada of physical test devices to do so? WTF? -

Years ago I used this in my thesis paper as an introduction. ( in a sensible way, since the paper was about generative art )...
Stumbled across it again, still funny... Especially the back story.1 -
Do you know that lady who waits in line at the grocery store for ages and when it's finally her turn she suddenly realizes that she might need her wallet somewhere from the bottom of her bag?
That's our current business analyst managing external dependencies like a boss... :D -
You know you're a developer when on your machine an ".svg" file automatically opens in a texteditor...1

Anyone else out there embedding an artificial delay in a splashscreen, just to shorten it in a future release so you can add to the changelog: "optimized startup time"?
#muahahaha8 -
"It's nice outside, let's go somewhere?"
... I asked my girlfriend this morning.
"Nope, I'm couchbased today."
... she replied wearing a couchbase t-shirt I brought from a conference.4
