Not to mention that he always goes overtime with lectures because WE ask questions. Shame on us for making use of his teaching!
-
@Oktokolo the content is for sure good, but the order in which they let me know the news made my heart skip, since I first thought I can't enroll anymore...because I was ALREADY enrolled
-
@Oktokolo I totally agree! But that's why this is labelled as a nightmare, because the "should"s are still shoulds, and not always happening. From my experience, I have to say that it wasn't always like it should've been
-
@Oktokolo depends on whether there's a practical implementation to the theoretical part :D
-
@Oktokolo yeah, but sometimes in non-coding-focussed courses, it's very frequent that people with very different coding backgrounds form teams
-
@Oktokolo of course, but here I mean mostly in a university setting
-
@ReverendLovejoy the Nest API supports all Nest devices besides the Nest Hub (it supports the Nest Hub Max however), so it's a bit of an unfortunate buy
-
...Another Continuation and Current Status
We're trying to find a workaround using the Google Assistant API, which supports the device. And it could've been for once a straight-forward project, but this job is testing me more than it tests its devices... -
...Continuation:
It seems that the Google Nest Hub doesn't offer API compatibility. YOU DID CHECK THE SPECS WHEN YOU BOUGHT THEM, RIGHT?!?!?! -
@5enchriu for me it would be a personal trainer, something sports-related, or a train driver. But even there the landscape is a bit saturated
-
@electrineer well, I solved the problem by using a shared boolean variable between the parent thread and the child thread, instead of doing connection shenanigans actually
-
@magicMirror I'm actually using the Thread class in Python, and I know there's also a subprocess library, but correct me if I'm wrong
-
@Fast-Nop we're a very small team and I'm a huggly person :D
-
@sladuled that's a new typo for my nickname :D should've been notshittypotato instead ;)
-
@aysentur because of the "tur" I was expecting something related to LotR, or at least something gate-related, but I'm not disappointed 😄
-
What's the meaning behind it now? (If you want to share, of course)
-
I'd say time is a social construct based on how it dictates every day lives. Otherwise, I'd think that it is more generally human than social.
We needed some way of referring to the different ways the Earth moves, since it produces visible changes for us.
Since science can't (yet) pinpoint exactly what time is, it is still at the stage of being this abstract concept that flows exactly how we know it on this planet. This, but also all the other constructs that are man-made like money, politics, human rights etc.
However, I hope you managed to sleep eventually! This is one way to start my/your day with some existential crises :D -
Enginenous one!
-
@RememberMe I've got that on my list together with max-plus algebra, which is used for scheduling actually! Thank you for the suggestion!
-
@Condor very glad to hear about that :D I have really weird dreams quite frequently, so I can share some insights :D
-
@Nanos we didn't encounter this problem, and we were using a VM for trying out our code
-
I call this sWITCHCRAFT!
-
@alexbrooklyn fucking hell, I had the same with my student housing company. They sent an Excel sheet with the data of all the people living in my campus via email "so we can check if our own data is up-to-date"
They then faced a lot of legal repercussions and are now not handling their data at once by email anymore, but sadly I'm still stuck with them for a while -
@linuxxx shiny potato PC means it has backlit keyboard at least
-
@lastNick we're still friends :D, and she also studies CS, I was just expecting more...knowledge
@Haxk20 she doesn't want to open the case, so she'll just send it to her phone manufacturer and see -
@rutee07 aww, thank you! Very much appreciated! *plugs self in, shines*
-
@irene just got into it and I already feel like I'm gonna relate to this sooner than anticipated :D at least I'm not useless!
-
@NarkoCat ah :D I'll be in the Balkans, but would love to travel to the Baltic countries
-
@NarkoCat will be going there in the summer, so maybe we can organise something! Depending on which part of Eastern Europe
-
I still am, sadly. At my job we have to work with an API that is python2 only, and it doesn't look like we're gonna change that too soon :/
