Some doctor dropped a video online that says 1 egg per week (whole egg) can prevent dementia by like 47%. I guess I need to eat more eggs. Doh!

What I don't get it what the 47% actually means. Is this a chance of a person getting something in a population? So lets say the chance of dementia is 10%. Does that mean eating an egg will reduce this chance to 6.3?

I had the weirdest job interview in the world. A job that wasn't even considering due to lower compensation than what I am making.

Throughout my career I saw three types of interviews (some times I have 1 & 2, 1&3 or just 2 or just 3 or fail early in 1):

1. HR textbook style: your 3 biggest weaknesses, what would your coworkers describe (I fail most of the time here)

2. People coming to prove a point to you (what happened to me today): Somebody with a clear intention to prove you are stupid and/or lying.. You are guilty until proven innocent style of interaction. They will find one little thing that you read about 15 years ago and zoom in it enough (it takes a 1min read to go over that again) and to them you are stupid and that's it. Generally insecure people do that

3. Tech oriented hiring people: it always goes well even if I don't get hired. Where they focus on the skills that take years to master rather than zooming on something you studied 15 years ago and totally forgot.

The hiring person was in tech presumably for 20 years but I saw 0 important stuff in his github. (I can name and shame if it's allowed here)

Is there any nice and "standard" way to convert a react app into a native mobile app? or at least write something that can work both as a webapp and also a mobile app?

I know about pwa, but it's not what I'm looking for since I can't upload the apk on playStore technically and it's not considered "native".
Also learning another technology such as react native or flutter is my last option due to the small deadlines.

I have some big projects that I need to have their mobile versions, so I'm planning on this.

open source this, open source that… do you realize that you have no way of verifying whether the “cloud” version of a self-hostable tool is identical to what’s on github? they might as well have a special version of their app running on their servers, filled with spyware.

They don’t need it though, because you never read the code in the first place. Spyware might as well be there, in plain sight, never to be discovered by you because they know people don’t read source code.

Also, when are you going to get it hosted? Because cloud is just someone else’s computer, remember that. If someone else has unrestricted physical access to your computer, it’s not your computer anymore. Your hoster can see everything that happens on your VPS.

Unless you’ve read the code and hosting it from your own home from your own physical server, it’s not your data. Check with your data provider — they often do offer fixed IP service for a small fee.

I host my own tools on my computer and let my phone sync with them through my home wifi. Yes, I can’t sync shit when I’m out there with my phone, but who needs that, I’ll just do that when I come home.

FUCK!!! I have the Minecraft bug right now! I got tired of Cyberpunk and want to automate shit in ATM10! If Minecraft ever gets a really good RPG mod(s) with immersive world gen it will be a killer game. I like open sandbox, but that gets tiring after a while.

One mod I like a lot right now is Modular Routers. Its a fake player on steroids. That combined with resource gen mods is a lot of fun to automate.

I also found a magic mod that lets you build islands in the sky that gets filled with villagers. Seems like a fun thing to play with.

Then there is Apotheosis that helps you build super OP gear. Like a pick axe with fortune 25 on it.
