TheBeardedOne3130335d@porksausages starting to feel that way as well. It's healthier than the previous places I've worked but that's not saying much
-
porksausages170335d@TheBeardedOne yeah i've had exactly one good employer in all my years of working, they're really rare. but when you do find one, you'll be annoyed that you wasted so much time with the shitty ones.

TheBeardedOne3130335d@porksausages Was your experience also that it all seemed great at first and then the moment you're kind of settled in, the truth comes out
-
porksausages170335d@TheBeardedOne absolutely, almost every time! the people are usually nice enough but then over time i generally start to realise that the culture is just draining for me and i start spending the evenings dreading the next day
-
TheBeardedOne3130335d@porksausages That's exactly what it's like. My colleagues are pretty nice people, I think I get along with them and fit in well but the work... Oh my word, there's always too much for the amount of time. There's no overtime but stuff still has to be done by deadlines, which are often set completely arbitrarily and then after the fact you get told "we agreed" I didn't agree to shit, I was told. Oh I also got called like 5 times when I was on leave

porksausages170335d@TheBeardedOne yeah that sounds like most places i've worked at too, i don't know about everybody else but i just can't handle that sort of environment long term. my advice would be to always be looking for the next job until you find a place you can tolerate. maybe give each place a few months to make sure you have an accurate picture of what it's like to work there, but life is way too short to spend the majority of it stressing about a bullshit job that you don't even like imo
-
TheBeardedOne3130335d@porksausages yea, I'm just nervous because this is my first permanent job. We also don't have "at will" policies here so new jobs are always a 3 month probation and all sorts of stuff
