A friend of mine has once sent me this job posting:
https://skillshot.pl/jobs/...
saying to me: 'You _need_ to see what they wrote for their 3rd requirement!'.

...
The fuck!?!

Since _when_ is empathy a fucking requirement for testers?

We had a good laugh about that.

Seems more decent than 98.7% of job postings in London

Empathy can also mean understanding the way someone thinks, aka can you put yourself in their shoes and find bugs they would be bothered by.

Doubt that's what they meant when they put that as a line though...

red flag but I'm eternally paranoid

empathy means you suspend yourself and only care about the needs of others. means they don't want you to exist. it's all about them. no complaining now

@jestdotty NGL to me it sounds like “risks of wokism”
  • 2
@jestdotty a bit harsh, but yes. There is a chance of wokism there. If they care about you're behaving upfront it's a bit worry some. I also signed a code of conduct once that made throw up almost. I'll work for you and be nice but I won't change my personality for you guys. Worked somewhere where every wrong word could be your last was my idea. It was quite a quiet environment, not weird, nobody probably had still something to say.

@retoor Can't get fired for saying the wrong thing if you don't say anything

@BordedDev no but being so self aware all the time because of it is terrible. It's kinda if you work behind enemy lines or so..

Talking about awareness. @Demolishun you've "won" the game ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

@retoor Definitely, hence the quiet. The current people I'm working with are more left leaning but don't really bring up politics at work, unless it's something larger but not huge (e.g. Trump) but will mention leaving Twitter. Getting hired here was a funny (but simple) story as well

@BordedDev Trump is the most fun part to talk about regarding politics. I think it's a very special guy ๐Ÿ˜‚ I speak a bit like Trump, "The best this, amazing that" ๐Ÿ˜. He likes to flex.
