iRobot13678yI did my undergraduate in mechanical engg ..so basically I know no shit about coding or any programming languages.To my fate I ended up landing in a IT company where I had to work on Java , Spring MVC , struts , Eclipse link what not. ..I was shit scared and always on thought of quitting ! But I was always intrigued with UI, so I pursued myself into JavaScript and then D3 , HTML 5 and CSS later I learnt about Angular this made my interest towards codin increase which made me learn all the framework's I mentioned above ! Right now m still in the same company for past 2 yrs with expertise on above programming stuff and always trying to learn something new! Never loose hope,have the will to succeed...and you'll! cheers 😊

@mxdpeep it was that book on assembly that scared the shit out of me! I actively avoided programming as 'too hard' until my first job in publishing.
It was win and mac, primarily used a DOS xml-based page layout program, Novell file servers and a mysterious *nix-y terminal that received copy written by the advertisers up the road. Can't help but get sucked in when they let you manage it all... except thar mysterious box. -
Kanimaru7808yBBSCRIPT > HTML php css > VB / VB.net > C++ > php > c > java > c++ > js > c
in this order xD -
We were using excel spreadsheets at work so I decided to learn how to make an SQL db with a web front end. Took me through SQL, php, html, js, css etc etc.
Bit of an oversimplification, but that's the first time I was paid to do it. -
Facebook208y@coookie lol no. when I was signing up, I tried a bunch of usernames but they were all taken, so I chose Facebook thinking it would also be taken, but it wasn't. I wanna change it though. Is that possible?

well my friend told me stories about graphic card and how can we other hardware components that spiked my interest in computers and eventually I saw some coding video that got me hooked with programming

mxdpeep5078y@pixeltherapy first books about programming were Polish! we talk about 1986/1987 = communist era

Pokka818ystated from self taught html around age of 10. then had a chance to learn in pre Olympiad computer camp when I was 17. They taught C on turbo C++ 3.0

@mxdpeep well done! Spent some time in Poland and met many people still stuck in the communist era... mostly when buying train tickets. You must be what they call a self-starter 😉👍🏻

I joined the after-school computer class at age 12. All they had were BBC Micro's and a dot matrix printer. It was more like detention for nerds than any form of learning environment.

peterzig2698yI was interested how computers work since I was 5, my dad was setting up PCs for friends and family from parts (It was in early 2000s), unfortunately I had bad teachers during high school that only taught me Pascal, when I got to Uni at Computer Science I had C/C++ and currently learning Python and iOS app development on my own (Codecademy + Udemy). In the future at Uni I will learn Java, Assembly language and other stuff that broadens mind but aren't necessary to be iOS developer 😄
