That weird and uncomfortable feeling you get when trawling through analytic data only to realise your top 5 browsers are in order:

Google Chrome
iOS Safari
IE11
Edge
Firefox

I think I need to go back to testing things in IE again 😫

No. Fuck IE. Make people leave that piece of shit behind.

Oh how I would love to do that @Stuxnet, mind you I haven’t tested anything in IE for 2-3 years so I don’t know how I’ve managed to give them a useable experience 😂

@FrodoSwaggins chromes early days was what got me hooked, I wasn’t a fan of IE and FF wasn’t a preferable choice at the time for me.
Chrome came in and shoved a speedy lightweight browser in and took over, although that lightweight and speedy behaviour has significantly declined over the years.

    @FrodoSwaggins chrome is faster.
Firefox uses more random access memory.

    Lol. Fight me

@BambuSource over the last few months, since Quantum, I have noticed FF eating similar amounts od RAM (I have not made any benchmarks, but I have noticed both eat my RAM). Still, I switched from Chrome to FF because there is nothing worse in FF than in Chrome, so I prefer the "more open" alternative. But yeah, RAM used to be FF's winning argument. It can no longer be so.
As for the speed, it used to be Chrome's argument, but it no longer applies, at least in my experience. So I find almost no difference between the two. Heck! Some menus are literally IDENTICAL!

@aritzh both are good browsers. And every chrome user says chrome is faster, every firefox user says firefox is faster.

In the end, I am not surprised that my gf uses edge.

Chrome is at the top because many analytics tools just report chrome, regardless of device.

The reality is that you should not worry too much about browsers, you should worry about platforms.

#2 is iOS Safari, OSX Safari is somewhere at the end of the list. Google Chrome is not #1 because of their desktop browser.

Don't test browsers, test devices. Test on the shittiest bloatiest 720p Android phone you can find, test on a smudgey iPhone 5, test on the $40 Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.

Normies don't use watercooled overclocked Ryzen builds with Windows, they don't use Macbooks with Arch Linux -- They stare at your website through cracked 4.5 inch glass and the cheapest knockoff coffeetable tablet they could score on Black Friday.
