1. Nazi Germany chose not to pursue nuclear weapons because they simply were running out of time and resources. They knew the theory and were building/working on civil reactors.

2. The USA would have continued to pursue nuclear weapons regardless of what Germany did. Delivery over large distances was not yet a thing. They didn't have 3 stage rockets yet. Sure, they would have bombed the shit out of England. But they already did that with carpet bombing with V2 rockets. So until they get 3 stage rockets it is not a threat to USA. Not like it is today. The resources is also a problem. Not sure they had good enough uranium or not. Or could make the centrifuges en masse. I know the allieds did sink a ship because it had deuterium though.

3. If you look into the psychology of Hitler there may have not been a motive to actually win the war. But to cause as much death as possible on all sides. This part I find fascinating.
