    That's my general response.

    Antivirus software is so bloated these days, I can handle my pc virus by myself
  • 6
    @devTea depends if you're bloated too

    @Jakuho I am not :(

    @bigus-dickus this is very true. Besides a lot of people are not clear about what could be a threat. If your system has a public IP and someone is able to put a Bitcoin mining script remotely in your system (even on Linux) and you dunno what shit went wrong; isn't that as good as a virus?

    @bigus-dickus it's also more likely to get a virus on windows due to it being way more insecure

    A virus is designed so that maximum number of people are affected. On Linux you still have viruses basis what applications you're using. If you visit a shit site and your Chrome gets fucked, you still have a virus even if you're on Linux.

    The key hence is to use applications that are not very popular, but still functional and helpful. And watch your back, that is be always very careful

    @bettehem its a misnomer that Linux is more secure. It is just that people find it worth their time to make viruses around windows (because of the scalability and possibility of its spread. Also because it doesn't require a lot of skill to operate windows, so chances of getting a virus in is much higher, because people will be less cautious).

    With the shift of software to a more app based thing the underlying OS may not be that much important. Though yes you'll have to make specific changes basis how it'll affect your interaction with the OS.

    @bigus-dickus @gymmerDeveloper shhh don't tell this to linux fanboys

    I don't use anti-virus on windows either 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @kenogo also... Than windows introduced the store, but let's blame ms anyway
  • 1
    @BugsBuggy good... good..
  • 1
    @kenogo let's blame ms if developers don't port their apps... Oh ms should do also their job?
  • 1
    @kenogo I know, I didn't mean you sorry... I was talking always in general about what most of people write 🙂

    Linux can destroy himself without viruses)

    The last virus which I had was in 2012 with the fake “police lock” on Windows 7 which requires you to use u-Cash to pay. My dad used the ComboFix to get rid of it.

    @-BSD ok

    The av: "you can't see meeeee"

    @dontbeevil
    I think that a lot of people and development doesn't see the point of passing by the ms store and accept the Microsoft condition when they can distribute their software by themself.
    The Apple App Store if by default on mac but some app doesn't use it because they don't want to be forced to accept the Apple conditions

    @osx94 that's called freedom and luckily we still have it.
