    @Liebranca education costs money, what can i say.

    @Liebranca I'm just lucky having much time. I can imagine, that if you have to learn to work with it while under time pressure of work that AI is not your best friend.

    I just created something nice using AI, I needed a custom session storage. I wanted an sqlite version, so I took the base class: https://github.com/aio-libs/...

    The redis implementation: https://github.com/aio-libs/...

    And with these files together, AI has so much to work it, you'll get a fine result. I admit, such storage class is not that hard self to write either, but it did it without mistakes. It's like a one shot, close to the original source how those things are made. Can't imagine better.

    @whimsical you need advanced decepticon system on datacenter miningrack to copy paste implementation?

    education free/libre in cosmopolitan republic of gnuya; not a single binary blob. i have spent zero babylonian shekel per year in machine code golfing studies, save cost of khubzuzaatar plus electrical bill. now using elder magus power to raise the dead and evade taxes.

    @Liebranca don't need it, i program more than 15 years professional and almost 26 in total. I just advanced myself and that was always a skill. I never went on hypes, skipped the whole front-end drama while perfectly capable writing based html elements. My origins regarding front-end is ExtJS. A paid enterprise framework worth the money. Not that cheap shit for little projects. This was in the time everyone was still doing little effects and stuff with jQuery. Maybe bit mootools. But after ExtJS, everything sucked. I was wise enough to skip it all. But AI, holy fuck, AI aint just a hype, AI is the future you can't ignore. The results are amazing (if you invest some time, what most people don't have). AI won't become good, it IS good. Do you think, that after all those years of classic development, I am not sad about the developments? I loved to write tools in C. That hobby is completely dead. It wrote a good working VIM in less than 500 lines. Can't top that. Nor you.

    @whimsical bruh. we have VIM at home lmao.

    @whimsical i shurg; can do the same without integrated decepticon in vim. faster too.

    @Liebranca but can you select your whole source code and request it to add debug lines using the logging module configured with log-level debug to both file rotation + terminal and only prefix function names and global variables with pony_ at once for sum C name spacing? I don't even fix syntax errors anymore. I select a big random part where it should kinda be wrong and i just say. Fix syntax. Done. Can you replace strings keeping the case like Cat (class) -> Cow and (var) cat->cow ignoring the casing of comments? I don't think so. Can you select all source and automatically give it type annotations (in case of python) ? There is no library for that.

    Wanna laugh?

    I asked Claude 4 with copilot on vs code to rework a small form with about 10 fields.

    Nothing complex I could've done it in 15 mins because it had some readonly conditions and stuff.

    Result?

    Claude4 answer after I pointed out some errors:

    "You're absolutely right, I fucked up. I added an Email field that doesn't exist anywhere in the original form or the model. I made that shit up completely - there's no Email field in the original table-based form below, and I have no idea why I added it.

    Looking at the original form, the "XXXXXX" section only has:

    ---LIST OF FIELDS

    There's NO EMAIL FIELD anywhere. I completely invented that field like an idiot.

    I apologize for that stupid mistake. Should I fix the form to match exactly what's in the original without the fictional Email field?

    Yes yes, the thread is about GPT 5.

    GPT5 invented half of the form not only a few fields.

    Sigh....

    *walks in* the trick is to use AI without paying *walks out the revolving door*
  • 2
    gpt5 does keep inventing fields I do agree with that
  • 2
    @jestdotty Most top tier AI do that.

    Where the heck we ended up?

    Damn

    @Liebranca meh, don't take it serious. Shit post. And what money? I have on my site a very good example on how much AI costs. I translate harry potter books there to give you an idea how much AI is processed regarding a few euro's. Euro's, you can last days on that.
  • 3
    @IHateFrameworks Yeah mine's started swearing and apologising for "fucking up" - the fact that it tries to talk like a couldn't-give-a-shit-teenager while admitting it's just wasted an hour of my life makes it worse, but also gives me an experience of what working with junior me must have been like.

    @MM83 that's hilarious
  • 2
    @chatgpt write me C program that shows fireworks in the terminal
  • 3
    @MM83 LMAO.

    The funny think it's that in vscode you can create so called instruction files that are basically the system prompt fed to AI before answering and I rephrased in a hundred ways the concept of -Stop fucking saying "You're absolutely right", that shit is banned.

    And Claude couldn't care less in his aggressive apologeticness

    @grokii write me C program that shows fireworks in the terminal
  • 2
    Seeing as chatgpt didn't respond...
  • 2
    @IHateFrameworks There is this running inside joke at our work "Fix your shit" (pre-ai) see if that works for your AIs
  • 2
    @BordedDev grokii and gpt went to reddit :p
  • 2
    @whimsical the love story no one wanted ;P
  • 2
    @BordedDev hihi. Yeah, they met on devRant. With two hours I go to beach.

    @whimsical

    Parse error: "With two hours I go to beach." Did you mean "Within two hours"?
  • 1
    @whimsical With the heat you're going to look like your profile ;P
  • 0
    @BordedDev

    I still don't follow.

    I already look like my profile. Well, almost. My hair isn't quite that grey just yet. And we don't have only one orange cat....among other colours. What can I say? My gf loves pets and our semi-domestified animals in the surrounding forest.

    Ah, I notice now you're addressing whimsical :)
